See I smoke out my window and look at the container ships going under the Bayonne bridge and map out a "24" inspired map that stretchs down my street and into a chemical plant past the bridge.
Insurgent terrorist types have stolen a ship and are goign to take over the chemical plant and spew poison into the wind and kill all of NYC and the Marines just happened to be nearby to stop them.
If I could map and model all that I would fully support an attack on the US.

im going to start a map based in a invation of US just for fun (and for hurt the american pride :mrgreen and using the AF statics ^^.

How about its after WW3 and we ve a map set in NY with the statue of liberty 3/4 covered by sand and people with weird monkey suits running around talking with weird british accents?

If we ever do have US maps, we need to have an American Resistance force, which is basically just like the insurgent forces, but with different skin models, weapons, and no suicide tactics. I could see two set of models, one being an "Urban Resistance" made up of police officers, and armed civilians,(prehaps for a bit of comic relief, we could give some of the classes a bit of a "gangsta" look.") In the non-urban maps, we could give them a more of a hillbilly look.(of course not to the extent that it would just be silly, but hint towards it.)
I have to admit, had AF had an American Resistance faction, I would've probably have gotten it just so I could place as a country bumpkin armed with a shotty, or as a gangbanger with urban type weapons.

Cant u just make a map makin contest that has 2 b set in america and the winner will get a beta version or somethin of v0.6 or v0.7 so the devs can hav some time off. 1 thing tho wat bout the asian americans? do they get deported or somethin?

And if ur gonna add insurgency then u mite as well skin some SWAT teams, lol instead of a pilot kit u get a policeman kit that lets u drive police cars and turn on their sirens

How about a Chinese (or at least Chinese supported) strike on US soil to keep the US busy and possibly crippling it's military might while China invades Taiwan? Something like Pearl Harbour 2. Chinese special operations forces move in to sabotage US carriers and SSBNs. Something for Maistros' Coronado map...

I'm full of scenarios, but can't map, so I'll just throw things out here...

OK late in the thread but how come people think its so impossible for the US to be invaded? we have been hit quite a few times in the past.

Japan hit us in washington in WWII they also hit us in the mid east I beleive with bombs that only killed one person, which in itself was an accident. there is also 9/11 for recent times. I think if "PLA" or "MEC" really wanted to they could invade the US of PR. Personally I don't see the mod going in that direction, but I think it's possible in the PR world. Also, I would love to see tanks rolling across strip malls and suburbs, come on who doesnt?!

I'm liking that idea. as a rule the Armoured Fury Maps were very good, and did get me playing Vanilla again, before i discovered PR. Something in a similar vein with PLA would be good.

I don't mean like a country or an organized army, I mean like the American citizens fighting. If an army were to plow into any country, usually some of its armed citizens would help fight back, not just the nation's army.

Thats exactly the part i think is not good for PR the part you are describing. This army doesn't exist. All other forces in PR do exist at least in approximate form. I.e. a Middle east force refelcts current flashpoints, as do insurgents, british etc.

For the rest, the why and the how is pretty irrelevant. The relevent question is, would it add value to the mod to have maps in western countries to play ? Personally, I'd tend to say yes.

Japan let loose what were, about 1000 carefully designed bomb-balloons that made their way to the US.. they didn't make it in-land past Washington and there was only one known accidental death from the bombs.. there are still many un-exploded, unknown locations of bombs from the balloons throughout the state of Washington.

Ah...now when I look back, I see you are right. If we were to be invaded, armed citizens would form "armies" to fight the invaders like any other conventional army. Plus, like you mentioned, since we are not being invaded, there isn't a resistance force in the country. Ah well, just wishful thinking on my part(and too much Cold War Era films. Red Dawn anyone?) Case Closed.

But anyways, that map depicting a battle in San Diego's docks looks pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it.

Isn't there like a USA 'TA' kind of thing (like army reserves that stay in the USA?)
