Any files you're missing I can probably supply. Probably best to wait 'til my launcher problem is resolved though.

Maybe you might want to try Everything, it's from voidtools.com, been using it for years and works like a charm... instead of checking through all the directories (folders) on your drives, it just reads the MFT table (WinNT's equivalent of the previous FAT table). So when you're looking for a particular file on your computer, this is a great program to quickly find it.

Well I screwed up... got home from work and didn't try to see if I could get the Launcher to work. I was re-reading parts of this thread and noticed someone's post (think it was Rhino) about whitelisting certain files, so I went into Comodo and white-listed the whole PR directory.

I should have tried the launcher before making those changes, 'cause the launcher works now. Hmmm... lemme see if I can remove that whitelist... brb...

Well it puts each and every single file individually in a list that I would have to place a checkmark on each one to remove them, so can't "un-whitelist" them without a ridiculous amount of work, so I'll just have to assume for now that whitelisting the PR folder was the solution.

If you are having this error, you might want to try whitelisting the PR directory in whatever AV or Security applications you're using.

Maybe I spoke too soon, now I'm crashing to desktop with no fanfare within 1-2 mins of getting to the server listing screen. Zilcho error msgs or anything else, not even the quick "PR is closing connections" or something like that, that you'll normally see when closing PR.

Anyone having the same problem or have any ideas? Thanks.

Going to try my new 32-bit partition...

Well it's finally fixed for me, except for the fact that I'm crashing now, but that is a whole other issue.

What security or anti-virus software are you using?

Have to get to bed, will check again tomorrow, but in the meantime, Google how to "whitelist" your PR directory (wherever you installed PR).

If you can't whitelist the PR installation directory and all its sub-directories, then try whitelisting PRBF2.exe, and PRLauncher.exe (whitelisting is basically telling McAfee that these are trusted files).

If you can't figure this out, I can try to help you with it on some Teamspeak server tomorrow evening if you like.

Good luck.

Sorry, I was on earlier this evening, you had never posted that you wanted to take me up on that TS suggestion, and you weren't online, so I eventually ended up on a PR server and forgot about this.

If you seriously want to get on Teamspeak tomorrow evening and try to resolve this issue, PM me or leave a post on here, tell me what time you think will work for you... I should be able to get online here by around 1700 hrs EST, and I'll come find you.

I'll PM you the TS address tomorrow evening if you're here, lemme know what time works for you.

I've already posted it Rafy, I explained that it was a matter of whitelisting the executables or the whole PR directory.

Your problem, on the other hand, appeared to be a matter of missing files, I've already responded to your post with suggestions, but your haven't replied back, so I have no idea where you're at now.

I'll PM you the Teamspeak address if you want to join Backup and I on there.

Maybe on Sunday, or late on Saturday evening?

Check my next post, noticed missing registry keys for Backup (the other guy here with you who's having a hard time getting 1.3 going).

Not sure if that reg key is significant, going to post it here and DEVs can decide if it's a critical key.

Hello DEVs,

Was comparing my registry to Backup's, and I have the following:

Image

Notice how the Registration key points to the "Key" registry key that is just below the key shown in the above photo. Then when I look at this "Key" subkey, I have a key that appears to be 256 characters long (or maybe only 12 8) ... didn't count it... see image below:

Image

Backup does not have a "Key" subkey under his "Project Reality:BF2" registry key. Is this of any significance?

I've helped him whitelist his PR directory, and run the two sections of command prompt scripts that AncientMan suggested, but he's still getting a Machine Error error msg upon firing up the PR launcher.

Thanks.

Arrh, saturday night (for me it's the night) i must play with my mount and blade team, and sunday i have the work tomorrow ... For a better idea, me right now it's 00:45.

A problem in registry key ? I will check that thanks.

EDIT : In your registry, you installed PR directly in F: ? No program files etc ... ? Maybe there is a link

I'm having this problem and I don't have any antivirus and my firewall is turned off. I have also tried both of the command prompt fixes.

What firewall? Just Windows firewall, or third party?
