well back then although i liked it, the game resembled rugby u had to form a line and push forward because ud need lots of guns on a enemy to take him down due to deviation most firefights were scrumming, now its more like football which really isnt such a bad thing

Aaah, now that is where I came for.

If those server crashes got fixed, the common feeling, mood, would rise by 50% according to my queries.

All you are WAAAAAYY over exaggerating "the good ole days" of PR.

I'm not presenting any statistics, just pointing out a personal observation based on playing very very actively since around 2009. And to me, it seems a lot of the veterans that used to show up in 0.98 still, have stopped showing up. Started around PR 0.8 and yes, the players don't seem to be learning anymore either.

I blame 2 things for this.

1. Overly controlling squadleaders who do not let players do any decisions of their own.

2. Mumble making it too easy to ask other people for tactics advice instead of learning it themselves. This makes them like the PR equivalent of a kid having helicopter parents.

This, sadly is the majority of new inf players in PR. If I play infantry I'm medic nearly every time and it enrages me every single time I encounter it.

Some of the cheekiest ones die to an enemy right next to you in a room and before you're done clearing it out they scream medic MEDIC REVIVE! It's utterly ridiculous but happens so often, I don't understand it. Main reason I dislike mumble local speech ability while playing infantry. Too much noise.

Yeah, but appearing out of nowhere to un-flip them made you feel like a badass right?

I'm pretty sure things will get better, it just take time. I mean when I started playing the game on 1.21. I was new,I was making a lot of mistakes. I'm fairly sure I was one of these guys that screamed for medic. But step by step I learned. And it's the same for everybody. After 1.3 a lot of people tried the game, some stay, there are still learning. You can't be good the first you play it,yes it's annoying to hear someone calling for medic for 5 minutes but eh, he will at some point, realised he has to shut the hell up.

I know a lot of nice people who want to learn, those guys will probably stay on the game, and get better.

This is a good thing atm if some squadleaders "overcontrol" their newbies squad,so people won't ask anything again, this is the way you have learn, someone teach you how to it, you figure out how the thing works, step by step. You try every aspects of the game when you master the previous one. First you want infantry, then armor,then CAS and maybe CO. If something don't work out, you will avoid it next time.

Vets are good, but back in the days, they weren't, they were just players who were discovering the game.

Some rounds are unbalanced but some are just epic, it's a matter of balance

Its kind of annoying that this thread turned into a ''The new PR community suck'' when the original purpose of it was about having an official PR server / modifying the mechanic of servers and revisiting the qualification for being an administrator.


I may have used words that led people to think otherwise? My point was that the logistic and cooperation of some rounds were almost inexsistent. And also that the admins were useless and even sometime making the game worse. Uuh....

In general, the players are not so bad! Some are clueless but its normal ??:

I think the servers are functioning ok as-is. If your team is failing at something, it's up to vets to set the team up for success, namely by building prudent FOBs in important spots.

It's funny how you hear that logistics is a particularly underdeveloped capability for many military forces (this has been a prime reason for Russia's intervention in Syria; logistical support for Assad's offensives). Getting troops and supplies to the right place is not easy. Similarly, noobs do not fully understand the logistical underpinnings of the game--vets understand this intuitively and can build a skeleton of FOBs that will more-or-less keep the team flowing to the right places. If you've built good FOBs in the right areas, you have pointed every noob on your team in the right direction.

You guys are never going to get a perfect server to your liking that is filled with veterans and people who don't screw around. Never a public server, that is. At best you can hope for a private server with a password that is distributed only to the right people that plays on a set day and time each week, otherwise there is no solution that will fix everything, it's not going to happen ever.

I've been playing for a little while now.

I feel people's intelligence is the same as ever. No real positive or negative.

I miss the Tactical Gamer server. They had some of the best admins around.

I just thought about an other point supporting the suggestion of having an Official PR server.

Maybe I am wrong, but I just had this thought at the moment, thinking that the Managers of this game (i belive its not just a mod anymore) might have sometimes disconnection with the community.

Wich is the core of the game itself because, what would be PR without a community?

An idea... nothing else.

As for now, it's pretty much alive, with new comers every week as the forum can tell.

Now.

My new point is.

In regard of the development and addition of future content, since PR is constantly evolving.

I think the motivation and passion the Dev's put Inside PR can sometime lack of consistency, since they have no direct link with the PR community.

Everyone do everything on their own.

People have their private servers running and that's fine.


But in the end, only few members take time to adress themselve to the Creator of this game and show the appreciation of all the hard work.



I think if the Players and the Enginneer (dev's) would get more in touch, the feeling of providing good content for a valuable community would be more present.


I am not saying PR dev's lack motivation. I don't even have a good picture of their actual and future plan for the game.

I simply expose my thoughts because I know anyone can lack of motivation sometimes
