viirusiiseli wrote:Unfortunately that "revert" will never come because while the new features are extremely unfinished and not well executed, reverting back to the older physics model would be admitting that the DEVs did a boo-boo.
I'm sorry but we have reverted many features over the years that haven't worked out the way we had hoped. One key example would be the "Helicopter Rolling Wheels" feature, (first talked about on the bottom of this highlight here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-p ... e-7-a.html), which I would have you note we also did "soft implementation and player testing/feedback" of before it was fully implemented into v1.0, with it being tested on just the PR:Falklands helicopters (with wheels) in v0.98, getting a 72% approval for full implementation into v1.0, with only 11% aginst it: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f254-v ... s-1-a.html
But then after its full implementation into v1.0, suddenly everyone decided they didn't like it anymore and it was removed as a result: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f254-v ... ls-2b.html
On top of that, there is are many other examples such as head bobbing animations, APC and rally point spawn systems, and so on.
viirusiiseli wrote:People say that because unfinished products are constantly finding their way into the game, that the community sees could be fixed in the developmental stage. The community has a great deal of people interested in being testers and I think there's already quite a few testers in the team. So, it is not clearly visible to us why half-done features keep being implemented. It's not just about not liking something, it's bugs and gameplay breaking issues that do not need the whole community's feedback. Those issues just need the tester's feedback to be fixed.
90% of people who are "interested in being testers", have no idea what actually being a tester involves and after checking out the new content and features for the first time, log off and never return as they really can't be asked spending the time testing out every single weapon, in every single kit, often meaning just having to stand as a dummy target while others take pot shots at you just for one example of what testers actually do, not to mention then having to write up the results of these tests, and hardly any of the time is anything that is actually considered "fun" as most people think it will be.

Thats all fine to say. But when you hear testers say stuff like "Ohhh I don't really care about CAS. CAS is OP and any nerf is welcome" it doesn't really build a lot of confidence in the changes.
I did help rpoxo with feedback on a select base line set of flight models over the past 6-12 months. While I feel that the new flight models add more balance too a lot of previously unbalanced maps (Khami AAS64 for example). I still wouldn't say its perfect. Having every other jet be as stable as a rock but the F-15 and F-16 flip shit is a bit of a shit meme.
While I don't think that anything malicious was done on behalf of the developers. I think it would be fair to say that this could have been done better overall.
I don't think that us "CAS whores" should really be as upset as you all seem to be. Yeah its a change. But fuck it, I really can't be assed to play the same aids Mig29 > everything "meta" as we've had since 1.0. While again, I don't think it necessarily should have been conducted like this. I think it does solve a problem that has been apparent since 1.0

Silent Eagle used to be a good CAS map. Now the SU-34 cannot get out of the hanger without taking massive damage (smoking), and the SU-34 spins out of control whenever you tell it to turn.
Edit: Just saw a Eurofighter fly into the ground. Was a vet pilot.

I don't get it. Do you all expect to be able to apply maximum pitch while going high speed without the jet acting out, just because it used to be like this before?
As i understand it, this update wasn't only about adding inertia to jets, but also about adding more challenge to turning, so you have to find the optimum amount of pitch you can use with each jet at different velocities.
Sure it might still be rough here and there and needs some adjustments, but overall isn't it working as intended, apart from a few unintended 'features'?

This is exactly why I am soo happy about the update. The balancing is soo much better. Earlier you could tell in loading screen already who is going to gain superiority (except when nabs get the squad ofc).

The flight models aren't that bad, most of the people who are requesting the revert want it because most jets decide to randomly enter an endless spin when doing nothing more but a simple turn. The revert shouldn't be permanent. Only until the reason for the spins is discovered.

In this case hangar unexpectedly being a problem There's few ways to fix it and working on it.

That says nothing for me but 3 things.
1. Silent eagle horribly outdated map for jets, it's landing strip not flat, and being 2nd short ingame after bamyan.
2. Vet pilot being too ignorant and didn't re-trained landings like he did in start of his cas career.
3. Everyone crashes. There's no 100% perfect pilots in game.

Too high instability of f-15 and couple of other jets isn't intended and being investigated.
P.S. One of unexpected results of new implementation is that i can test some of changes server side, so everyone not satisfied can expected some "open" test sessions in future

Last time I flew it I took almost no damage pulling out of the hangar and was able to turn just fine by not being rough on the controls. Guess I'm the best CAS pilot in the game now

I tried that three times and it bounced every time like crazy bull. 2/3 attempts the engine caught in flames, lol.
I attempted to fly and land SU-34 in Silent Eagle. I literally never fly jets in PR. Took two attempts to successfully land su-34: it's not that hard to be honest and I'm flying with keyboard (not using mouse to land). I also experienced this very odd feeling spin in mid air (???).
Silent Eagle landing strip was more than enough for SU-34 though.

Where are you guys getting the idea that turning a modern jet, with maximum force, is going to spin it out of control? Do you have data for this, or do you just feel that it should happen?

I do believe that is a side effect that wasn't meant to be there.

On the first landing attempt, the jet bounced from the airstrip. I know that the velocity and angle were totally wrong but still it felt wrong how it bounced.
You can also see the spinning thing in case you don't know it

A-10 landing definitely need to be fixed, even experienced pilot hardly land perfectly without scratch.
F-15 high attitude flip like paper airplane also ridiculous.

The bounce might have been due to hitting your tail on the runway.
Also I don't get why all the pilots are complaining so much about the spin thing, can rock it in dogfights if you get used to it.

I managed to sneak up on an F-15. It did not notice me at all. He started spinning, saw me, and shot a missile at me while spinning. I was like right behind him. Dead.
I want to learn this and pull it off xD

The problem is that sometimes you can't stop spinning. I've had 4 or 5 issues where my F-15 would go into a spin and 1 time I couldn't stop spinning. It took me a couple of minutes before crashing in the ground. I tried turning, accelerating, decelerating, releasing the throttle for a stall but nothing happened. It just kept spinning.
