Each individual has their own personal tastes and preferences. This leads to to various games, mods, server settings, etc. I don't think this is a bad thing.
In the case of servers, variety allows for more people to experience PR. While some settings may be different than the developers intention, it still allows for multiple experiences. It may even lead to finding new and better ways to implement features and server configurations. Granted, there is the possibility for a player to have a bad experience that is not the developers intention. And for this reason I'm glad to see PR push for the PROS designation.
As for the TacticalGamer.com server, we've configured the server to work the best way for TG. This includes providing preferred access for those paying for the server. We've also made our automated kick script function in a way that allows for more non-supporting players to have time on the server. The script may not be perfect. We'd love to be able to provide better messaging when a player is kicked for a reserved slot, but at this time we haven't figured out a way. We're always looking for "constructive" feedback on our forums and the admin team discusses the options.
We realize that our configurations & scripts are not for everyone. We don't attempt to be the server that works for everyone. Given the variety of individual tastes, that is a tough objective to accomplish. What we've found works best for TacticalGamer. We'll listen to the feedback and make adjustments where needed.
For those players that don't care for our settings or scripts, we respect that. We hope you find or start a server to your liking. We would love to see more players playing PR and if that means more servers with different settings / scripts, then lets get more servers up and running. That should help PR.
We'll welcome anyone to join our server and visit our forums. If we're not right for you, then we wish you good luck and hope you find a home to play PR. There are many other active servers out there.

Like Kramerika said, FF tends to be a nightmare for admins, and we'd rather play than have to babysit TKing children and other idiots who want to ruin the gaming experience for everyone else.
Everybody has their preferences. Overall, except for the occassional instability of the .05 mod on the server, I'm pretty happy with the way the server is configured.
BTW, I have to admit I'm impressed with your review of all or most of the PR servers out there. In the spirit of Animal House, your new Tactical Gamer name is....

Just kidding

It was fun squading up with you last night, and I hope to do so again soon.

Will do. I'll add you to my xfire list next time I play. I'm usually on later in the evenings since the wife and I have a 2 1/2 year old who thinks she's a rock star and won't go to bed until 10:00 PM CST. However, when she decides to fall asleep around 5 or so - which happens about every three days because she won't take a nap - I get to play a bit earlier for about an hour.
Yes, I'm counting the days until we can put her *** in kindergarten.
My boss just walked through. Now I feel a tad guilty for not doing something productive like changing the FTP script in some JCL to point to the actual machine that will be used once we go live with PeopleSoft GL and AP. I've also got to figure out why a simple DOS batch file with imbedded calls to a WinSCP3 script works fine but won't when invoked by a VB.NET user menu.
Stupid computers.
See ya'll later.

as Kramerika said OSF servers usually run with FF OFF. Our community usually votes on most important server settings. For PR server majority voted to have FF on with 25-50% damage. This is the way our member, who maintain, support and admin the server feel like having it. With my very limited game time, i personally cannot even get very good at the game to worry too much about killing my team mate with one shot.
And if someone who cannot find a server to play on - you have the right idea - host your own and once you have it running the way you like, please let us know we may come and join you...

No, PR should not be experienced multiple ways. Maybe 2 or 3 ways, but not "multiple ways." The DEVs put hard work into this game and have created it for a certain community and built it to cater to them specifically. When you have servers running 15 second respond times, no FF, and 1 map all the time, those servers are catering to the same people which the DEVs created this game in order to get away from.
The whole reason why most of us liked the 0.32 time period was because even though their were only 2 servers up at most(GH/IGI), they both had good server settings and we all experienced the way the game was suppose to be played for the most part(except for IGI no vehicles.)

I can hadle the reduced FF, I didnt even notice on PTG until Chef told me, then I started noticing the text server messages saying it. (I still seem to get TK'd lots anyway )
Shorter respawn times is a deffinate no no though (death or vehicles) once I realise the server is hosting shorter respawn times I just disconnect, you find those servers full of vanilla type players.

Yes, I'm afraid OSF has been a no-no for me ever since they announced the FF issue.
Determined, if you're willing to pay, why not pay for TG?
I always join GHz if there's 6 or more people there.
Finally, you forgot to add "hacker's haven" for the Devfile server I'm afraid. I love you Fox, but I don't like every other death being a headshot from outside the draw distance from an AK. And after seeing that one guy pop out of and back into invisibility, Predator style, I just had to leave, unlikely to return.

What a terrible idea, not to mention a rather selfish one. Newcomers are the lifeblood that keeps any organisation, community or other group going. You're suggesting the "perfect" server should prevent anyone new learning how to play the game, presumably so that educating them doesn't interfere with your gaming.
On second thoughts, lets have more passworded servers. Tactical Gamer welcomes new players, and we'll just continue to grow whilst your "perfect" passworded servers spend the better part of each day sitting idle. Sure newbies can ask some questions that experienced players consider silly, and sure it can get repetative when you have to tell the 30th or 40th player that night how to get a kit. However, helping these people get to grips with the game ensures a stronger and larger playerbase for PR, and that is a win for all of us, regardless of our taste in servers.

Thors is the best and has been for a while, the only problem is getting in the dam thing ! its hell wen theres 5 or 6 of us on TS and the thing is full. We end up having to settle for a server like TG or EURO FR but its not as good.

maybe you forgot (or never participated in) the beauty that was GHz south.
a 12v12 on that server was one of the best PR experiences. alot of good times with the DVB guys there, i remeber theyd always populate half a team, and the rest being regulars.
