Awesome changes so far. Really pumped about 0.6 more then ever.

The 3 field dressings the medics get in my opinion are a great setup. Obviously an injured medic would be able to perform limited first aid on themselves but not the full medical treatment. So the 3 field dressings would represent this limited first aid treatment (each dressing is 15 points out of a total of 95-100 I think). Plus the body armour is going to help out allot, medics won't be so fragile.

I don't really want to comment any further on all the changes until I get some good quality time with the new release. Just glad to know what the changes are. All I know is that the Devs continue to amaze me with the quality of the progress in PR.

Cheers,

there goes the only reason i played as the insurgents, the G3 =[. also, if you want to be able to heal yourself be the rifleman, they have infinite field dressings.

yea love the medic changes. I hated seeing medics jump off buildings and just healing themsleves. I do hope this doesn't result in silly things like more then 1 or maybe 2 medics per squad.

Fastroping really in or not? I can't tell if someone is just pulling my leg or what.

Considering he said it out of nowhere, I think he was just trying to get some laughs ;)

I'm a bit disappointed that civis can't pick up kits. Seems as if that'd be the one thing they SHOULD be able to do. I realize they are collaborators and whatnot, but should they feel the need to join the battle I don't see why they couldn't grab a pickup kit, or take one off a dead insurgent. I imagine new insurgents are recruited all the time from the local population.

I also imagine that in public servers during regular play the sight of civilians will be very rare. I think giving them the ability to jump into the fight would be key and encourage more to play them. But it remains to be seen, maybe they will be the most popular class :p

Imagine a situation where a civvie sits on a combatant kit, and waits for an enemy. He quickly presses the kit pickup key (whatever it is by default), squeezes of a couple of rounds, and swaps back to his civilian kit. The enemy turns around and sees a civilian.

Exactly why a will civilian die when he pick up any other kit

I think civilians are perfect the way they are.

Yes they get recruited into the insurgency but most likely not in the middle of a fight. I highly doubt that the local doctor is going to turn into a explosive armed, ak wielding soldier in the short period of the battle. Basically the doctor and mechanic class just swapped out their guns for immunity from enemy fire (well just about immunity). This also makes them excellent scouts as they don't really have to be sneaky or unseen.

We will have to see how they work out in game but I for one can't wait to play as them.

I don't know if I'm keen on the medic changes and the civilian class being unable to pick up kits...Sure, these changes would be fine while playing with guys who know how to work well as a team, but when you're playing on a pub, where the gameplay is a little more "selfish", it's going to be hard trying to get people to fit the roles of civilian, etc...

I could be wrong, but it spells disaster for me.

Having said that, I love all the other changes. I'm especially digging the new Chechan-based Militia faction, as the wars in Chechnya have always been of interest to me.

You guys make me laugh when you start saying that it's hard to find a good squad with teamwork and voip on pub servers... 99.9% of the games I played were pub and only a few of them had no teamwork and it was when .5 just got out...

It sounds like the gameplay and strategies will change quite a bit with the class and weapons changes. I HOPE people take that into consideration for the first few hours playing before they form an opinion on 0.6. Too many times when software is newly released, people go into a 24-hour ***** sessions on how 'this and that sucks' and 'it's just not like it used to be' and yada yada yada...

Lets just look forward to something new, fellas. It'll be good to change things up, regardless of how great or fun 0.5 is.

Sounds Great! cant wait for .6
One question though... what exactly is a "proximity detonated IED?"
hope its not overpowered and spammed

I still dont understand why civilians cant pick up kits. Its completly unrealistic. Civilians join the ranks of insurgents every single day. If the only argument is the "well if they could pick up kits, they could just shoot sombody and then switch back", THEN MAKE IT SO THAT THE CIVILIAN KIT CANNOT BE PICKED UP. I know this is possible to do as the VIP kit acts like this if the opposing side attempts to pick it up. This way, once the civilian made the life changing decision to become an insurgent, he would remain one for the rest of his short life.

I like that idea Fenix16.

I also like knives on my soldiers, and armour on my war veterans!

I dont think the Hague will take any action when you get a massacre!

So how many stones to the head does it take to 'enlighten' a grunt?

bollocks... get on Voip, control the squad, kick non squad players etc, just generate your our teamwork. It really fails. It's up to the effort you put in as a squad leader.

If you are not leading from the front, you cant complain, WE make the teamwork what it is. And it can be excellent, but you get rewarded for what YOU put in. If you are a selfish SL you will not get much help from your squad, if you are selfless they will fall over backwards to help the squad!
