New problem, whenever I try and make a new map it the Editor just stops responding, if I try and 'Load' the map (Since technically it's been 'made') it just says that the map doesn't exist.

Ya, dont touch the computer when its making the map, it will crash and give you this.

One question, which i cant seem to find any answers for in the tutorials.

How do I import my picture as the "basic layout" of the map, as ive seen you all been doing to start with.

Hey.


I've started mapping a few hours ago.. and i think im going pretty well.

I've tested a bunch of times...

I have downloaded the Rhino's or PR Samples andLightsample (No idea of wth are these files).

Well, after testing and playing whit the Editor.. i confirmed the last "Version" of my map.. adding a nice variation of vehicles.. a Hill whit a Bunker.. etc

But now.. in the last version.. when i load it in Bf2 it just crashes when the loading is completed..

I think, i have "many" Objects so i have to low that number a bit..


Map is custom.. smallest one whit a little number of Statics. Maybe 1 IGLA, 8 Tanks etc.

And btw.. thanks alot for the Tutos!.. but do you know the reason of why it is crashing?

run the map in windowed mode and you will get a error.

The thing to do is search that error on the BFeditor forums, so if I search for "Virtual +impl" in the search tool, here's my results:

got 9 topics found in that search, chances are one will tell you how to fix this if not more

that topic says that it's probably down to you pasting in files from other maps into your maps without fully changing them to read from your map etc.

but look though some of the other topics and you might find more answers.

I will try "cut/paste" "LayerInit.con" from bf2editor/mods/bf2 to bf2/mods/pr

Now i cant even paint wth!

It seems that i cant fix it for now. It keeps giving me an error.. but the only way to run it whitout problems is by using "BF2 r.exe".. i can play but the terrain will look like achess board, and random black holes appears when you move the Camera.

Now im going to learn how to make Perfect Minimaps and Triggables.

Try setting up your detail textures and saving your complied terrain, ground porps, complied colour and detail maps, and your terrain.

also for future problems please make your own topic...

is there a trick to paint large sections of terrain?

it will take days to paint 4x1024 map
