I wonder if the Osprey in PR will be realistic enough to be as useless in the field as the real one is in real life? lol
The US should stick to stealth, its what they are good at, leave the VTOL to us British folk to come up with!

Oh, come on. The Osprey at least looks cool (when not crashing).

There have only been 4 crashes of a V-22, the last one was back in Dec of 2000. Unfortunately, one of the crashes happened in DC in front of a crowd of Congressmen which made for particularly bad press.
When you consider that this truely is a whole new type of aircraft, 4 crashes over the span of 9 years is not really bad (first crash was 1991). Consider the crash record of the F-14 who's first crash came 2 days after its first flight. If the USN had given up on the Tomcat for just 4 crashes it would have never made it to production (all 5 prototypes would end up crashing before the first deployment).
Regardless of who made this model, bring it on! USMC needs a realistic transport and the Osprey is it!!!

Only 1 crash was needed to retire Concorde.

There was only 20 of them, total... And the Concorde was actually returned to service after the crash, only to be retired a couple of years later.

Concorde had already been established. Not relevant to this context. Please search.

Wait, will there be a Concorde too? Wouldn't that be cool? We could transport both teams across the entire 4km map in like seconds....
It would be an interesting thread to be continued in another area compairing the developement of civilian aircraft vs. military and how a "minor crash" in one is par for the course while in the other is the end of the road.
Oh, and while we're on the crash theme, let us not forget that in its early years, the F/A-18A developed the moniker “Lawn Dart” for its propensity to auger in (aided by its more than passing resemblance to the popular child’s toy of the same name)...
