When I was in ( 2 years ago in the 25th ID) everybody had an M4. This is usually the weapon of choice for any "Light" infantry divsion. I think only Mechanized divisions like the 4th ID used variants of the M16.
In my company I ran the "Fire Control" shop that handed out all the optics as well as NVG's, Peq-2's etc. The choice between an ACOG and an M68 was often passed down to the platoon level with the ACOG as a preference because of the need to see long distance in the desert and lack of need for a battery as in the case of the M68. Personally I prefered the M68 but I was very much in the minority.
We also had a few thermal sights but these were only ever used on the M240's and only for towers at the FOB. They were great at night in a cold desert but rather pointless during the day.
It would be great if PR incorporated the AN-Peq2 for maps like Bi Ming as anybody who's ever had to do it knows, trying to sight down an M4 with a set of NODs is friggin' ridiculous.

If you guys had looked at the game files, you would have seen that there already are ACU uniform textures in PR, it's just that they aren't being used yet.

I say again . . . bored servicepeople are scary.
Expendable Grunt wrote:At the squad level, what's the army got for extra reach?
Some units have M14s, and others have the M16A4 or M4-based Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDMR); they are equipped with the ACOG 4x or more powerful, variable optics and have floated, match/near-match barrels. The M4 SDMR has been reported as having an 18" barrel.

I wonder, is it possible to switch them over to the USMC right now so we can use the ACU?
