Well, we CURRENTLY have the UAE; if they went to war, it would be as the UAE -- is it hard to believe that, due to social and political unrest in the region, a new leader from the battlefields has helped to stabalize the region and formed a Colilition of Middle Eastern States?

First off the Devs have put a lot of work into the MEC. If the Devs say the MEC stays then they stay, regardless of what the current political/religous situation would dictate. Devs dictate. I have yet to join a round while playing as MEC and found my gaming experince not "realistic" soley based on the fact that they don't currently exist.

That's the angle I originally wanted to take.ReadMenace wrote:I always think of the MEC as a secular unification of Middle-Eastern countries; something akin to NATO.

Don't really care what country the MEC is from just know that it is a good side for the devs to use weapons and equipment that aren't used by US or PLA. They seem to be going with a European theme for the weapons of the MEC so I hope to see more HK and FN weapons, maybe they could use some EU or ME vehicles (like the Israel MBT or Tiger attack chopper) encase the current Soviet ones get shipped over to the new RU side.

It is as unrealistic as is idea of China vs US/UK war.Expendable Grunt wrote:Well, we CURRENTLY have the UAE; if they went to war, it would be as the UAE -- is it hard to believe that, due to social and political unrest in the region, a new leader from the battlefields has helped to stabalize the region and formed a Colilition of Middle Eastern States?
Or even Russia vs China (Shanghai Cooperation Organization)
Idea of seeing MEC as a NATO-like organization is the best.

Or the "Organization of the Islamic Conference"? Did a little reading into this after Grunt has banged on about it for the last few days and I'm beginning to be convinced. The racism and religious secularism are both valid points but there are plenty of NATO nations that aren't exactly head over heels for each other.
