Not just to do with the name. The RN Fleet Air Arm had been flying an older generation of aircraft than the RAF for around 20 years. The airframe of the FRS1 Sea Harriers first came out in the 1970s, then some were mid-life upgraded into the FA2 standard for the RN, with a few new-builds of the same airframes brought in later. The first joint-venture Harrier II's (US AV-8B / UK GR5) entered service in 1985/1987.
