good point ^
Not very practical or even possible I'm afraid. The ROF must be a integral factor of 1800. This means values of: 1800, 900, 600, 450, 360, 300, 225, 200, 180, 150, 120, 100 etc. 1000 isn't one of those values and anyway having it at the maximum value (aka 1800) with a batch size of 2, makes it have a more even distribution when strafing(as opposed to clumps of rounds). Currently I have made the spread with the deviation modifier that the shotgun uses to spread its buckshot.Viper5 wrote:Nedlands, how practical would it be to set the RPM to 1000 and have a 4 round shotgun effect with very little spread? Would basically be 4,000 RPM
As per FAS, the M134 operates at 2,000 or 4,000 RPM.

Well then, it that's the case, they suck pretty hard at setting the correct rate of fireEpim3theus wrote:Yes, i thought the effectivines of the miniguns on the Blackhawks was tuned down to simulate 240's by the Devs, because lack of time to make the actual guns. I think i've read that in a previous thread about those miniguns.
You see miniguns, but they are 240's, that sums it up.
I don't deny that it is a peashooter. The IRL ROF is nowhere near the IG ROF which leads me to believe that it is not a "simulated" M240. If it was then the Dev's would have put it a little lower.Epim3theus wrote:Rof in game or irl. They tuned down the killing power of the minigun in game down to simulate a rof of the MAG or 240 whatever. So maybe they the minigun still has a rof of 1800 it does the damage of a MAG with a rof of whatever you say it is. That's why it's a pea shooter. Just like the guns on the Chinese chopper.
Heh, you'd be surprised. Not positive on it but I think the minigun has some kind of HE rounds. Have to call John.nedlands1 wrote:Well then, it that's the case, they suck pretty hard at setting the correct rate of fire. Wikipedia tells me that the ROF of the 240 is 650–950 rounds/min. The ROF for the "240's" on the Blackhawk is 1800. I am also pretty sure that there isn't any HE rounds in the 7.62 mm caliber either in common usage.

WTF? He did not say he was in a SF group. Also, it's BF2, it's a game. There should be balance as well. Since it's not the SF of the USA ingame the minigun shouldn't be that good as in real life. Have patience and one day you will see lovely M240s in that window where you first saw that minigun..Soulja wrote: Didn't you just put in the other thread that you're 15? Yet you now say you're in the SF group of the 101st......
I don't get it though. He said something about 240s on blackhawks after giving that. There was no link so i just assumed he was there or something.brummy.uk wrote:WTF? Ahhh, ok, I'm a Redneck they handed a wrench, bit slow sometimes.brummy.uk wrote:You said that you saw Blackhawks with miniguns at Campbell. He was referring to his earlier post that BHs with Miniguns are mainly used by the 160th SOAR. The 160th SOAR is based at Campbell.. So, he was trying to say that the Blackhawks you saw were belonging to the SOAR.
No shit Sherlock.... Reading through this thread you basically say the exact same thing as Viper5: Miniguns are not used as frequent as many people like to believe.Soulja wrote:Ahhh, ok, I'm a Redneck they handed a wrench, bit slow sometimes.
On another note, they're very high maintenance guns so that's another reason you might not see them.
No, Viper says they aren't used, that they're all Hollywood. What I say is they're only equipped when needed.Gyberg wrote:No shit Sherlock.... Reading through this thread you basically say the exact same thing as Viper5: Miniguns are not used as frequent as many people like to believe.
No he did not say that please read the quote above.Viper5 wrote:Are you serious? The US Army uses miniguns on almost exclusively 160th SOAR Helos. The vast majority of US helos use the M240 (US Designation for FN MAG. M240 and the GPMG are both derived from the MAG.)

You bash him for not giving any good sources, Im still waiting for yours.
Thats like asking to not be taken seriously....Soulja wrote:Now remember, the XM134 "Minigun" which is what is mounted on the blackhawks have a real life rate of fire of over 6,000 rounds per minute and fire 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, this thing disintegrates people (Read Black Hawk Down).
The book, not the movie, the book was written by one of the soldiers there and in one part he talks about what the miniguns do to people. The movie is based on that but very Hollywood. Most definitely not the same thing.Gyberg wrote:And yet you use BHD as a reference in your original post?
