Tactical Gamer server is great.

Until you understand that the core members does not give a shit about their own standards, and when you point iyt out, you get banned from not only their server, but also from their forums. That way of handling things are the one route to destruction, if you ask me. I have seen som many kiddos given admin rights, abuse them, and get backed by good people afraid as hell to lose face. That fear is the key to unsuccessful development. Grownups acting like little kiddos are so yesterday.

I gladly play the victim and take the shit, because somewhere sometime, they who really comtrol stuff overthere will understand this too. The only way of gettin things like this better, so it will last. They probably see the love in this action from my part. I understand - losing face hurts more than a wild firespittin SAW in the a**. ;)

For anyone reading this thread, if you would like a little more history of Zoors and his issues with Tactical Gamer, please check out his previous TG bashing thread where both sides of the story were presented. The story becomes more clear.

I met a good admin yesterday. Fools Road was on and I have bad ping to TG so I might as well command. (since noone else wants to)
We where british and sq5 (inf) and sq2 (apc) was doing a very good job taking and holding train depot.

Rest of team could'nt do anything at hilltop cause sq4 (6 players) decided not to follow orders (attack hilltop) and have a nice camp in the woods between hilltop and militia main. They where doing nothing execpt getting 1 kill for 4 deaths in a 10-20 minutes period. (I know cause I was drinking beer at main watching the map and scoreboard) I did not whine about sq4 not following orders (exept for asking about weather and such) cause they had 2 TG members.

Then sq5 SL (admin) asks me "WTF is sq4 doing???" where I reply "Dont know, not following orders".
He then warns them to follow CO orders or get kicked.
They where already half way to hilltop when sq5 SL (admin) asks me if he should kick them. I say no of course since they are moving so fast. :-D

So, can I cry for admin when squads is not following orders or was I lucky this time??

Following command orders is one of our rules. If players are not following orders, please don't hesitate to contact an admin.

"Following orders" is meant to encourage teamwork but just like anything else, it can abused to achieve the opposite.

A good commander/leader will support his team, not drag them around the map under penalty of being kicked. So when that seemingly useless squad doesn't accept an order, let it go. Maybe they're new and still learning how to play. Maybe they're just having some fun. Or maybe they really are useless. In any case, save the admin complaints and threats for the real morons, the tk'ers and griefers, not the guys just trying to play.

Well that sounds good but when you are in a tight battle and 6 people, all from the same clan, just insist upon grand flanking maneuvers that take 10 minutes and deliver them 2 flags behind the front line .....not mentioning any names but some of these clan members get quite testy when you point out to them how far out of position they are.

I know it is good strategy to have a squad ready to take the next flag but that is a situational decision and should be the COs decision, not a singe squad leaders.

Sniper teams are another wonderful asset, when under the CO's command.
But they insist of having a sniper as squad leader, and 2-3 people to "protect" that uber-valuable rifle, I have a tendency to display a small amount of impatience with that concept.

I would really love to see some short rounds organized as a CO clinic.
Everyone agrees to follow all orders, no matter how stupid and the CO gets all the credit or all the blame for the result.

I have had games where everyone did exactly what I said, and we won and I thought I was great.
I have also had games where nobody did what I said and we still won but I didn't like that as much.

The clans need to be held to higher standard even when playing with us " pubbers", because I have noticed that a player who will follow orders and behave in a sensible way when alone will become the rogue trooper from hell when he gets 3 or more of his clan on with him.

I've tried use the more valuable assets on the TG server, Transport Choppers, Jets, Attack Choppers, but it seems to be that almost every time i try, some members say that they "reserved" the assets, and when i try to get into their squad a few times they wont let me in.

All in all its a good server, and the teamwork nights are great, but it's just that one little thing that really bugs me.

I actually posted yesterday about this in a different thread.
MarineSeaknight wrote:Tis' exactly what we do on TG. So here's basically the reasoning behind our 'named squads' rule. Players who name their squads do not automatically reserve the right to an asset. The COMMANDER is the one who makes the final decision, and can assign certain squads certain assets to keep the game running smoothly. If you don't join in at the beginning of a round, you can find yourself not able to get a chance to fly an A-10 or gun in an M1A2. All this ties back to "first come, first serve" and how Commanders should have the ultimate power on the battlefield.

Now don't get me wrong here, our system is not perfect in any way. We have some players that come in and abuse the system, locking their squad and inviting buddies only at the beginning, gaining the asset request from the CO and thus, preventing other players from getting a fair chance to use the asset. Our dedicated team players often look for this, and try to explain why that player shouldn't do it.

In the end, some players will disagree, and some will agree, and some will get cheated out of an asset because they load too slowly. But if it keeps the game running smoothly for the majority, then that's what we're looking for.
Usually when a player won't let you in, it's because the squad is full and all the assets assigned to the squad have already been distributed amongst it's members. Like I said above, joining a game at the beginning of the round has it's first come, first serve advantages.

Eddie, if you feel like you really want to use an asset, join our TeamSpeak Server and speak to a player who usually loads in fast and creates the squad. More than likely they'll save you a spot in their squad.

Armed:

Your Criticism is noted. I take it you're refferring to my 6th Devils squad on Fools road that (on brits) attacks Helicopter Air Base at the very start of the round. About 75% of the time that I do this with my squad of 6th Devils, we are successful and keep the enemy from even capping Helicopter Air base. However, the 6th Devil's are not special or uber players. We're a team that has spent many hours, weeks, and months preparing ourselves with communication and the teamwork.

I understand why rushing HAB is frowned upon. However, I do have the CO's permission unless told otherwise.

The Militia also have several key tools that are rarely used wisely that could easily turn the tide of my squad holding up in HAB.

1. Grappling hooks. Have 2 Fireteams enter via grappling hooks from opposite ends of the compound and you'll give any squad a run for their money. It's very hard to stop grappling hooks.
2. 2 Tanks. Yes, they take 20 mins to spawn. But there is no penalty for NOT having HAB before the 20 minutes. There is no bleed. So you can sit 200m out from HAB, wait on a tank to support you, and then move in.

Once again, I understand fully where you're coming from. It's very hard to go up against a squad that knows how to play with eachother after a year of doing so. And if you're on militia without a good CO or proper armor support, much of this might not happen.

Eddie:

We have chopper whores. We have jet whores. I despise them. They hog the assets. They're always in locked asset squads. They're always using some form of a team asset be it a sniper, SF kit, Chopper, or Jet.

And to be honest, we have jet pilots that are easily 15x better than these unnamed players. Jet pilots that have gone 36-2 on a full scale Quinling scrim. He was a lone jet pilot. He was facing 2 jets and won in the first 30 seconds of air combat.

But will you ever see this player fly jets in a public game? Nope. Asset whores are in the game just to make these locked squads.

Real men do infantry 99% of the time anyway.

Sure thing Eddie. If you need help setting up TS, just give me a PM on the TG site or on here. I'd also be happy to let you join my squad, as I am a frequent pilot (no fears Skud, I play infantry just as much :) )

I'm still banned from the server and i have no idea why. When i made a topic on their forums it got locked. And yes, no matter how many people in the server i stil cant get in on account of the ban for TKing.

Its funny cause i was playing just like 2 weeks ago.

Ironcomatose, your post was probably locked because you posted in the wrong place: BANNED? KICKED? Read this!. What you need to do is create a thread in the contact an admin forum. Explain your situation, be polite, and you will probably be unbanned.

Only reason it gets a "Good" and not an awesome is that its so damn full all the time!!! :P

But honestly, great job, and I agree that servers need to loosen the auto balance. I tend to play with a good squad sized group and it makes it difficult to get on the same team... I know being in a larger group makes it harder, but sometimes we only have 4 or 5 guys and its a hassle getting on the same team for the ultimate PR experience :)

***hmm, this is a somewhat old post, why did it show up in my "new posts" list?....someone else must have voted and bumped it up to a "new post" status. Im not a necro, swear!!!***
