I take back my earlier comments. I just played a great round of Kashan on the T&T server tonight...and this was without flying or driving a tank.

We were an infantry/engineer squad and capped flags, built fire bases and bunkers, and defended against enemy infantry all without being raped by tanks or helos. We even managed to keep the supply truck alive for the entire round! (We dubbed it the "Golden Truck") Much of this was down to the squad leader [SWE] Gasse G and commander Finglefang who were both excellent.

Finally, a fun round on Kashan! We won too.

Now that is something I'll have to experience to believe. For now I'm a Kashan-atheist.

Doesn't everyone just love those "UBAR LEET PILOT ONLY SQUAD"s that sit at base with pilot kits and say "If you want to fly, you must join our squad!" How about no? How about a pilot is in a squad with at least SOME of the infantry he will be transporting so he can COMMUNICATE with them?

If I'm not mistaken, the idea is that squads request CAS/transport from commander, the commander is the one directing assets.

In practice, most pubbers never even pay attention to this system anyway. In the end, it's sometimes best to do the next best thing, like using a mixed-element squad, but I do prefer having six people doing the same thing.

Best thing to do is for several clans to get together to purchas the same 64 server, that way you should have at least 3 squads of regulars and enough of a skill pool to find a commander.

I'm not a particularly big fan of this map either. It's very vehicle oriented, as pure infantry squads are extremely easy to counter in the vastness of the desert. Seeing this, I'd rather see Kashan adopt a different play style and simply embrace itself as an all armor and aircraft map.

But in any case, it seems like this map is the only one where people don't have any common sense. When the round begins, I usually create an armor squad to spawn at my team's respective outpost flag. Funny thing is, my squad is usually the only one of the damn team that will do so. I don't understand why everyone spawns at the main base if all the good assets there don't spawn for a good 20 minutes, when on the other hand you have about 4 tanks, APCs, AA vehicles, trucks and jeeps at the outpost flag. Enough to make a small mechanized assault that could easily overwhelm the village flags, giving your team the initial advantage.

If you ask me, the outpost flag should work like the FOB flags on Qinling, in that a permanent, static bunker exists there that players can spawn on, and not a 5 minute rally point. Even after that... I'd like to see the initial 20 minute wait on the heavy assets back at the airfield removed as well, maybe keep it for the attack planes and helicopters, but tanks, APCs and transport helicopters should spawn in from the start.
