QFT.
I love this mod to death, and I liked it that the mini map was removed along with the squad respawn, but the PR community probably has one of the most elitist attitutes I've ever seen. Its always "vBF2 noob" that, or "this is shit, its not realistic enough" or simply, it sucks because its not PR. Yes I know that there are smacktards out there on the mod that cause people to think this way, but why do we have to sink to their level by bashing anything thats different from PR or when people are simply just new to the mod?

And also, not to beat a dead horse, but bashing the topic creators ideas with pictures of handicapped people and insults that I'd except from a 12 year old or a sterotypical CS player was uncalled for and futher proves my point of an elitist attitude here.

Anyways, rant over and back on topic, I would like to see in PR, but probably never will because of hardcoding or balance issues...

1. U.S. Maps(If we can have a war in China, which is not happening because of economical reasons, we can have battles in the States. AF maps in Vbf2 were probably the most fun out there.)

2. Javalin(sp?), even though this would turn any ground vehicle into a metal coffin, it would be fun to have.

3. No more instaproning. Instaproning is why I do and always will say...
BF2142>vBf2 all because they got rid of instaproning, among a few other things.

4. Tatical reloading(i.e. having a round in the chamber when you reload with out expending your magazine.)

5. Fastroping!!!!

6. Getting shot actually has an effect on your soldiers preformance in battle.

7. Fix up hit detection.

8. When entering a vehicle, you acutally have to enter it instead of poofing inside.

9. Helmets could acutally save you, instead of just being a skin.

10. Getting shot would actually leave behind wounds.

Well thats pretty much it. In no ways am I complaing about the mod, the Devs have done so much with the engine, and the mod is beautiful and way better than vbf2 and even more so than my beloved bf2142.

^ Agreed with the bashing other mods, and BF2, etc.

1. A Civilian water pistol to taunt the Brits.

And you just cry around wanting this mod as completely boring as possible for the sake of realism. Why not just one spawn per game? That would sure be fun...... Gameplay should factor into things at some point.

Am I inferior because I liked things better back in 0.5/0.6 and don't want to march halfway across the map every time I spawn?

1. MEC remodelled/reskinned to look less like they are dressed for snowboarding/disarming bombs. The desert is a hot place.

2. AK47s for the iron sight MEC kits. Seems only natural for a Middle Eastern Coalition to be using them as well as the G3s, as a lot of armies are using it.

3. More hummers and less supply trucks. (Not sure how though.)

4. Al Kufrah Oilfields removed.

That's really all the things that I could think of. Nothing really game changing, just a few minor things that I've been thinking about while playing.

1. Helmets that show your rank
Image
2. Helmets that have your squad insignia
Image
3.Hats that show your leetness
Image

Maybe possible but would take a lot of time and effort to implement i guess, so they're just some of the things I'd love to see in PR but won't...

1. Brits Vs PLA in desert camo on some desert maps (probably Gobi desert)
2. Winter/Polar maps
3. Player controlable artillery
4. Different "special weapons of mass destruction" for every commander (example: JDAM for USMC, Artillery barrage for PLA, SCUD with chemical warhead for MEC, etc.), just like in C&C:Generals :D
5. Vehicles with automatic grenade launchers or mortars

A polished, cleaned and sufficiently loved AK-47 that actually shoots straight with a fearsome roaring report that'll make anyone urinate their pants... dare I say even Chuck Norris?

I have to agree with both the above statements, and I think it will be the death of the mod. Some of us were very happy with .5, which if I'm not mistaken was the high point far as total number of players.

Real war sucks, its hours and hours of bordom follwed by 60 seconds of terror. Is that the "realism" we are heading towards? I bought a new computer two weeks ago, it was not until last night that I finally got an enemy in my sights and was able to get a kill. This happened partly due to messing about with my settings etc., partly cause I have not played much since .7 came out, but mostly cause every time I joined a server I had to cross 2-3km of nothingness on foot to even see combat. There is a fine balance between reality and game play, and some of us think we may already be on the wrong side of the line, if only slightly.

The mod is incredible, but its becoming new player unfriendly (I gave up BF2 for the mod back in the days of 0.3). I have tried to recruit several good clan mates to play, but after getting pwned and not being able to actually play due to the complexity of the mod for 2-3 nites, most of them quit. I have several other friends from the early days who have left the mod for the same reason.

Think twice before you 7331 PRMer's go off and say "we don't need those people anyway." There are dozens of mods and even full games which have died a long slow death as the core group of players got smaller and smaller to the point where eventually the only way you could play was to find a dozen people to get one server running.

I love .7. and truely look forward to .8 .9 and 1.0 (and the eentual switch to Quake Wars engine), but I also miss the fast game play of .5 (which was the last time I actually recruited new players to the mod).
[RANT OFF]

So what would I like to see? Less of this bickering, more and faster gameplay, with 7331 kits like Chuck, oh and make the Oprah kit for people who TK or steal other kits ;)

See, where you make a fundemental error here is that assuming that playerbase is all the Devs care about.

It has been stated many many times - last time I saw it publically was in the X-Fire Dev Chat - was that pretty much the only intention of the team is to create a mod that THEY enjoy playing, that appeals to enough players that they can get a game out of it.

Hundreds or thousands of active players aren't their intention; the mod's popularity is a spin-off, an unexpected and pleasant side-effect.

They're not out there to pander to a mass community, it's that simple.

Yeah, gameplay in 0.7 isn't perfect. Gameplay never *will* be perfect. If the Devs could make perfect gameplay, they'd be making a fortune and not tinkering with a beast of an engine. But gameplay in 0.7 is far closer to what the Devs want than 0.5, so I'm sorry - but if you're hoping for a return to those days by virtue of updates to come, I suspect you'll be sorely mistaken.

What I will say is that if you're having to walk 2km to see an enemy, something's going badly wrong on the servers you play on. It should be rare that you have to walk for miles and miles - even on Fool's Road, I've only had to walk from one end of the map to the other just twice in 7 weeks of regular play.

BTW, WRT what Liquid Cow said, I think the middle ground could be found by adding more city maps, and not city maps like basrah or Sunset city, but a larger street. Sure, street was a bit spammy, but if a larger more expansive version was made, it would be incredibly fun.
