tbh this is kinda wierd, i mean mec are fine as they are right now, and how you guys are expanding it seems like you are making a brand new faction.

why not, ill still play it...unless punkbuster will keep screwing up...

I agree that a new opfor is needed but a extention of a current force in pr that is not as well armed is not the way to go.

I would like to see that too, Nedlands, but ATM I am having trouble changing the gunners zoom levels in the BRDM2. Its really weird because the only objecttemplate.addzoomfactor in the files for it does nothing. Unless I havn't found the right file yet.

EDIT:
I think I found the file....

EDIT:
I did find it!
i recomend the T55AGM it has 120MM smoothebore gun barril length is 6000 mm (L50)
Normal recoil length gun here is a website of the tank this tank is verry impresive and it even looks more imitateing

http://www.morozov.com.ua/eng/body/t72-120.php T72AG same gun as the oplot these ukranians have a lot of variants

Jonny wrote:You should suggest this for a different faction, Yasin. The tanks would almost all be used by the other (current) MEC faction, what with them being the front line units engaged in most fighting and these being supporting/reserve units.
yeah well if i am then what kind of new faction could we name and i recon if put this version of the mbt at least it would officially balance the USA & THE MECS

But if you want a new tank for the MEC then suggest it for the current MEC, the point of this faction is to use less seen vehicles on maps where there are already no tanks around for more diversity in the weapons used by the MEC.
what Im trying to say is that this game is also about high tech weapons vs high tech weapons if mecs are so advanced why would they leave an ordinary t55 tank why a modernised t55 tank

Sounds interesting, I don't think that these guys fit on a map like Kufrah though, even with T-62's.

Maybe Op. Phoenix would fit this faction?

Jonny wrote:As you may have read here someone came up with the idea of expanding the MEC forces.

They would be composed of the current faction, using the best armour/weapons they have available, and a second 'reserve' faction, using less deadly armour/weapons but starting each map while holding most flags and with less tickets than the enemy.

Their main role would be defending, not attacking. As such they would rarely get to use tanks of any kind and would never get attack helicopters.
Generally speaking, this looks like a middle eastern counterpart for Militia... am I right?

Sounds like a good idea :D

ZaZZo is right, OP. Phoenix would fit this faction pretty good, they have the CP's captured and the enemy faction(US Army/British) can start at the farm.

Just a thought, what about redoing the Zatar wetlands map as a USMC amphibious landing. It's a HUGE map with tons of cool goodies on it that EA or the PR devs excluded from the maps. Just forget the MEC airfield is there and all is set for a sweet amphibious combined arms map.

What we have to avoid is giving the MEC reserves terribly outdated equipment. The MEC may not be spending capital money on their reserves, but they are not stupid; they will have foreseen a Western invasion and spent their remaining funds appropriately.

That means that, while we can say that "they will not be a ME version of the Militia", we have to be VERY careful not to drastically outmatch this faction against the USMC/US Army.

Zatar would be awesome if the MEC Reserves have a proper attack helicopter, transport helo, and perhaps some BMP-3s. It should really be down to HAT and Rifleman AA to cripple the American offensive before vehicles arrive, at which time the attack helicopters can mop up the American survivors (Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again) and begin the counter-offensive.

Speaking on the US side, the objective should be to create a secure firebase and distract the enemy infantry, making room for air attack and transport and allowing the use of land transport without such a high risk of HAT assault.

So, in response to BetterDeadThanRed, the Reserves are the best possible fit for Zatar in theory, but it might fall apart on public servers, and victory for the MEC would be impossible without reasonably powerful vehicles and weapons.
