If you want MeC to use another rifle, i would sugest that you start a new community mod with a "new" OPFOR Middle east faction with diferent vehicles, weapons, cammo etc...
That way we would keep our loved MeC (i like them) and would add a new opfor faction (wich would be nice)

That lad's a Norwegian. It's the Viking power, lacked by the MEC, that enables him to control the recoil.

FN FAL L1A1
Squad Automatic Weapon:
FN FAL 50.42

or FN Minimi

You could get the same information from all the "z0mg change teh G3 to an Ak47 because the MEC are teh p00r (and fastr0pes, plz)" threads.
You do realize that the M16 is the one known for accuracy, while the AK-47 is known for higher stopping power and reliability?
WidBill: Why would they use both 7.62 NATO and 7.62 short? Wouldn't two different NATO-standard calibres make more sense? And why rifles from different manufacturers when you get 90 % of your stuff from one of them already?
I do think the HK33 is sexy. But so is the G3. I think they should stay with the G3.
The faction is also called the MEC, not the "Mec", as it's an abbreviation. Changed the thread title.
none of the weapons i listed use 7.62 short. the ak74 and rpk74 both use 5.45x39

anyway, did you not read my post? it would make more sense to have the MEC purchase their weaponry from multiple suppliers. it just seems like theyre the kind of folks that would do that.

lemme set you straight there mate.
Videos are a bad way to judge recoil, from the outside viewer, the recoil looks insignificant at best. To the shooter, the sights are jumping all over the place off target. Also you don't know what loads were being used in those videos, some could be significantly less powerful than a typical combat load.
HOWEVER, I do agree the current G3 recoil is exaggerated. Any ex-nor force or old German hands wanna confirm this?

Bah, I was thinking about the AKS-47 and RPK.

It still does not make sense to use NATO and non-NATO calibres, especially for standard kits like the support gunner.
And I still can't see why they seem like the kind of people who would buy from different suppliers when they could get it all from one. Is it the old "Middle Eastern armies use all sorts of ragtag kit" argument again?

Yeah you're absolutely right Icehollow, youtube streaming quality set aside. PLUS the two first videos have the retractable stock and in the last they are firing prone.
I have fired the G3 many times during my service (never with the sights though) and I can understand that many think the recoil is way over the top. When you look down the sights ingame it looks worse than unscoped. I think it's totally realistic. Maybe just a little tad too much 1-2% max. My point is that it's pretty much perfect as it is, the MEC G3 version kicks ***
And for the love of god
DON'T change the MEC main rifle! No offence but anyone suggesting any kind of AK should get a freaking reality check.
If hypothetically we were to get something new, I suggest a new faction with it's own unique assault rifles. Deutsches Heer (German army) for example would be awesome in PR. They have the G36, MG4 and MP7. Maybe even something with the HK416? As it is now we don't have many modern European weapons in our arsenal

AN-94 "Abakan" assault rifle maybe...
IMO is should be something manufactured by a Eastern country, Iranian/Ukrainian etc, or even a neutral country...
but if it aint broke, dont fix it!

Because MEC is already using german weapons, why don't stick with them?
G36 with scope for the "normal" soldiers
MG3 for LMG
G22 for the sniper
G36C for spec-ops and crewman
that would be kickass
or just like [NPK]ShieldBreaker said, a new army with those weapons (UN, EU oder NATO forces)
