Well the ships would move rather slowly, so people could still move around on them, as for aircraft, if someone knows anything about the Titan code from 2142 and see if it could be used, I doubt that though.Fishw0rk wrote:+12345
I seriously miss the naval battles from BF1942 and FH. I loved crusing around in a sub while listening for pings. Then slowly emerging to have my persicope peak slightly above water level. I loved hammering the airfields with the cannons on the battleships. I loved moving the aircraft carrier to remote locations in order to avoid enemy destroyers & battleships. Sooooooooo much fun.
The problem is we'll never see that in BF2 because the engine poorly handles collisions between players and moving vehicles. In BF1942 you could stand on a moving vehicle (the deck of a ship, or the wings of a transport plane) without taking any damage, but in BF2 you will die. So having a moving aircraft carrier or other medium-large sized ship is not possible, because all of the players not in a seat would die once it started moving.
So ultimately PR will have to stick with smaller boats that fit 6-8 people max. I'd still like to see this happen even if we can't get the old naval battles of FH.

That would be odd...it'd run into the same flak one-man armor does, and for even better reason. I mean...let's face it, you will never get 200+ people to crew a single ship on PR.Tirak wrote:This isn't going far enoughI want full naval battles between assault ships with marines bording them and blowing things up and destroyers and missile cruisers and aircraft and... okay, I'll calm down now. I support this idea and beyond.

Just caused shitloads of lag in the closed beta, which ended with most server admins just kicking any commander who tried moving those beasts too close to the other side ones. Dunno about the full version, but as this was a fundamental problem I doubt this works flawless now... not talking about porting it over to bf2.Tirak wrote:Well the ships would move rather slowly, so people could still move around on them, as for aircraft, if someone knows anything about the Titan code from 2142 and see if it could be used, I doubt that though.
Anyway +1 to pbr's and other small crafts

Smaller battleships like cruisers and destroyers are fine, bigger are stupid.

My thought is that we should have riverine operations. As it is now, the maps are all about the tanks and the land vehicles. The same RIB is still in use since the BF2 Demo, and the only time I've seen it changed was in OPK, where they put an Mg3 on it. I think PR should start looking at some maritime maps where alot of the support that is needed comes from boats.

16p maps are for infantry battles, how many times do you see decently populated servers play these?

I believe the inside of the titan is a location somewhere else on the map, right? You see the titan floating around somewhere, but when you enter it, you're "teleported" to another part of the map, where a "static" and "non-moving" titan is. But you can't tell the difference, to you it just seems like you're inside that floating thing.Tirak wrote:Well the ships would move rather slowly, so people could still move around on them, as for aircraft, if someone knows anything about the Titan code from 2142 and see if it could be used, I doubt that though.

No, it works just fine in the final release, and you can stand inside of the hangar and shoot the guys on the ground, so this thing actually moves. Anyway i don't like the BF2142 gameplay g*

No, the titan is a giant moving object in the sky. All the corridors are inside of it and moving with the outside. How else would drop pod wreckage fall through and your body glitch in the walls to see the outside, or even fall out of the titan?Raegron wrote:I believe the inside of the titan is a location somewhere else on the map, right? i like the idea of another couple of patrol boats, especially hagardy-*** insurgent converted cabin cruisers with a RPK stuck on the roof lol.
would be nice on baracuda/zatar/Bi Ming like maps, where the support the boats could provide would bring something to the gameplay.
Kinda like Mestia but with more rivers.

I am new to this forum and would like to suggest a FASTER patrol boat than the rib. 70-80 knots, shallow draft, trailer.

This looks like it could be a good map for patrol boats.
If the idea was still floating around.

Well, it would be great to see a map with a Chinese carrier invading American territory, and the Army Reserves/Coast Guard defending.

Good point Warren, hope the devs listen to this, and act accordingly
