Edit: Looks like Celestial beat me to all my points.

Yea, don't use smoke or dressings MR. LAT guy, because you'll need all your magical ammo points in tact to suck just ONE rocket off this ONE bag that our rifleman carries.
Well, if Mr. LAT had the self-control and foresight to seek out a medic or have one of the other 2-5 squadmembers pop smoke he wouldn't be in this situation.

I disagree, I have relatively few problems with ammo because I keep two riflemen in my squad, maintain a line of supply, and scavenge off the enemy.

Funny, because I'm pretty sure Fuzzhead said the ammo bag was nerfed because it was so unrealistic. I think the solution (if there is one) will be to revise the ammo system, much like Mongol has suggested.

Sorry Charity
While I don't mind Mongol's suggestion, I'd still like to see that only for specialty equipment (rockets, whatever) while keeping nades and mags quick and easy as they are now, if possible.

Unfortunately, I don't think the engine will allow it. I know it's been mentioned earlier in the thread, but "ammo" is universal doesn't distinguished between equipment.

I agree with Celestial and Charity, they have both said points which have been repeated throughout this thread.

One thing that I find annoying is that if you are a rifleman and are trying to resupply a field dressing the ammo bag disappears and you get nothing. I just tested this. I threw down a field dressing then walked away threw down my ammo bag, waited and the bag didnt resupply the dressing. I did all of this without firing a shot or throwing grenades of any sort.

Because the ammo bag is for... oh, right!
Ammo!
You should always rely on a medic for wounds, not on an endless supply of field dressings. The field dressings are a way to keep your 'health' steady for a little while longer, before a medic can get to you and patch you up. And then, you should be careful when standing over ammo (only stay until you have what you need, and let others with their field dressings and such go first).

While I agree that there is a massive overuse of bandages (I'm looking at all you spec ops players) at the individual level, I still think there is a major problem with the LAT kit.
One LAT is not what a squad would be issued, nor is it enough to be a tactical asset within PR. At this point, it's an emergency tool, or only used against infantry, because there is simply no way to effectively engage light armor with it.
The M136 AT4 is a recoilless rifle used primarily by Infantry Forces for engagement and defeat of light armor.

Clearly, the AT4 is not being deployed realistically in PR. I think this needs to be addressed. I don't think the entire ammo system needs a rehaul, I do however think that some specific things need to be rethought: LAT rockets,
possibly HAT rounds, and probably smoke grenades, which are not an offensive weapon and really shouldn't be taking up a whole lot of ammo.
I can't really offer an effective way to implement these changes, because I have no clue how the ammo system works. If someone could enlighten me, I'd gladly help brainstorm, but until then I'm stuck.

I think that the entire ammo system DOES need some revision. Most of the people in this thread agree with the OP.
Can some DEV's comment on this? I havn't seen any DEV's come in and say "it is being looked at/due for a change" or "it's staying how it is."
If a DEV can comment on this, we'll have a lot less to argue about....

But doesnt the ammo bag represent the extra ammo soldiers carry in thier bergen, and since in RL ammo is distributed through out the troop to carry it all and in PR only one guy can carry ammo it would be fair that the ammo bag carries abit more ammo. This is probably hardcoded but any way, say the amount of ammo in the bag increases by the amount off people in the squad?

how about not being able to reload the ammo bag from a ammo bag and only from a supply crate?

How about making the ammo bag work like a medic bag..
