Door gunners in the troop carrying hinds i have seen have clamps in the portholes designed to hold what looks like an AK, only about as useful at best as an APC side gunner. Not exactly raining death.

Mi-24 capacity is 8 troops - and each one has a little porthole. Tasty, for the irregular warfare of PR. Hammer a lone unsupported enemy location then drop-off your troops to hold it. Useful.

Looking forward to a suitably assymetric Mi-24.

I've seen them mounted with PKMs on some South African Super HINDs.

Ive played since 0.5 release, and I can honestly say that 0.5 was, and still is the best incarnation of PR ive seen.
Sure it coud get spammy, but it was also FUN, it was not frustrating to anything, apart from escaping one of the many ambushes that you had the unfortuante luck to step into..

For a CAS X to be effective, you need to rely soo mutch on ground troops, using a method that honestly, dont work the way it shoud. The apatche for instance, is B L I N D, apart from Mark-1 eyeball, and infromation from the team, and honestly, public teams intel are spotty at best, and "what intel" at worst..

I mean, it feels like we`re using ww3 gear, with ww1 methods..
WOW QFTW! Agreed! Ground troops are not even afraid of aircraft.

You mean like helicopters and A10's? It struggles with them...

The Hind IRL is heavily armed, heavily armoured and can carry troops and not slow, but with very low manoeuvrability and not very powerfull. It is intended to make runs on a target taking lots of air space. Unlike the Havok, you make your pass, then you need to line up again, leaving your self vulnerable in the sky.
A havok would own a Hind, it would run circles around it.
The hind is like a BMP, slow, not as good as a tank, but can carry troops. Whats so good about the BMP? Its better than a Vodnick or BTR or BRDM but not tanks. The Hind was built off of the Hip, so it should be seen as an improved Hip, but not a improved Havok. Why do you think they made the Havok?

Heavily armoured for the most part but with really serious design flaws like a tail section so poorly armoured that rifle fire can cause it to fail structurally and internally, and rotors that like to disengage from the rest of the aircraft in some stressful situations.

heard they fixed those problems after crashed hinds in afghanistan.
the hind should only be a ground attack helicopter + transport in pr.

When Im on Kashan and that A-10 is passing by all the time! Or on Muttrah as MEC with a good Cobra crew up there its hard! Im afraid.

and I certainly wouldnt want those bf2 pilots back! With those 10 meters above the ground precise bombing. I like it that pilots need intel from us on the ground. Should work wonders with a pilot squad and a commander. I know I coordinated some good Air support as CO on kashan a few times.

When was the last time you used the tunguska in PR?

Unless the A10 you were trying to hit was above the clouds, it is very easy and helicopters don´t stand a chance.

In VBF2 the AA didn,t work. ;)

My idea of teamwork must be different then, because my idea is the troops call it in and the CAS craft takes it out, the ground troops spot AA sites and notify the pilot and also notify him of enemy theats.

Not 5 people gather together to conjure up the power to throw a green box a long distance and then via 3 people and at least 3 people get the message to the pilot..

The reason a pilot shouldn´t be a solo lone hunter is not because he can´t, it is because if he does he will get shot down...

Those gunships are so mean. Seriously, I saw one movie of one in Iraq. Targeting a house just 1 sqm from a mosque. Imagine how many innocent people are there. In that house, there could be children, women.

And then when people run out they kill them to, and cars and stuff. And nobody is even shooting up in the sky or something, nobody seems to have a weapon or a pickup with a 50 cal or anything.

I'd rather drop a bomb and blow up the whole place than aim with a big cannon/gun and tear peoples limbs appart if I had to do it...

Godamnit, war is so cruel...let's all just play RP :)

Sorry for off-topic input.

They don't fire at the helicopter because they probably can't see it and because you'd have to be crazy to shoot back at it with an AK when it's shooting at you.

You don't "hide" terrorists if you are their husband or their child.
