Oh, and to get back on topic... I encourage everyone to push patriotism aside and just enjoy the game. Because that's what it is - game. No more, no less.
Funny thing that realism is somehow more important when you're own countrys armed forces are involved. Can you imagine how many would cry if we would have Russians hunting caches on Basrah? That's almost the same thing as Brits in the Caucasus.
I love PR because so much work is put on making EVERY faction believable. In other games they just throw some AKs on the "OPFOR" and make them targets for the ones playing NATO. It's very rare that this much work is put into the non-NATO armies. Wish that more people could enjoy this instead of crying about how their own nations military is being "pushed aside" or whatever...

I'd imagine you may see more work coming to the MEC, PLA, INS and MIL in the future, too....

I still secretly hope for a Russian vs. Militia map or Fools Road&Mestia changed to that.
Or any faction vs another faction and neither are NATO based.

It's not about patriotism. It's just about having armies which we don't use in every single game coming to the front. I quite enjoy using the Chinese but dislike playing as the Insurgents. I personally enjoy playing as the British because it's a step away from playing as the US, sure, they have nice kit but I end up playing as the US on every other FPS I own, COD4 being a good example.
Sure, there are going to be people who play as the British just because they're British, but there are also others who want to play as the British because they're something different, they look good and the weapons are fun to use. You can only use an M16 and M4 variant so much in a game

How about 2 versions of fools, mestia, and the upcoming urban militia map? One for brits and one for ruskies. Makes everyone happy (except for the 56k folks who will have to download the extra content)
I don't really give a rat's *** about the story line.
As long as the game plays well, who cares if Poland and Israel are fighting on the slopes of Mt. Everest. If it's fun, why should it matter?

I rather hope the Brits dont end up as that 'Faction that WAS really good.' Hopefully the US dont take over, cos I much prefer British maps, and I think Basrah is the best map ever made in the whole of BF2.

TO much focus on NATO countries to little on the other side of the table. I hope we will get something new for both MEC and PLA both factions are still stuck with alot from vBf2.

Honestly, who cares what percentage of maps goes to who... Mappers will map for whatever factions they please. As long as the map is decent, I don't really mind. Just because your pet faction doesn't make it to every map, or your most hated faction features prominently in a large number of maps doesn't mean that PR sucks.

Why is it always about either the US or the UK? As Outlawz said previously - when will we get maps where we aren't forced to play as or against one of these two NATO-nations. PLA vs. Russia, Militia vs. Russia, MEC vs insurgents... Do the brits and yanks have to be involved in exactly everything? :/

As long as EVERY team has a good selection of maps I'm fine with it
perhaps we need moar unique smaller maps, rather than the epic big ones (since those takes longer to make?) that would help keep the map counts for each team high.

I prefer the smaller maps, gets everyone into the action quicker and keeps my BP low, nothing more frustrating than someone driving past you in an empty humvee

I would
love to see some of these style maps, especially the latter two.

Yeah true. If people are complaining about the number of maps for "their nation," there is always an importunity to
make your own map
.

the sound of the gun is HIGHLY depended on the position of the person whos hearing it.
also, "reality check" ... you cant get any more real than a helmet cam of a soldier firing in a combat situation... though youtube dosn't have the best sound quality its best we gunna get without experience.
compared with various shots in this video:
YouTube - Project Reality v0.75 - Infantry gameplay action PART 3
sounds pretty right, maybe a little "dull" needs a sharper higher pitched shot, but still thats up to the MAs like [R-DEV]Gaz and [R-DEV]Ukforce and the others who have better knowledge, but i would of imagine would of said already after this man releases this dose not sound right.
Sorry for the huge Quote. I actually made the first A Coy Video in the topic, i didnt upload it to youtube though. The helmet camera from those clips does not have the best mic but you're right, it does depend on the position of the mic in relation to the weapon. I have some clips from my helmet cam with a much better sound of the rifle firing, im not too keen on uploading raw helmet cam footage to youtube though. It is not that its gory or anything i just dont fancy getting any backlash at work. I may just cut it down to a short clip of me firing and that should be small enough to email if anyone is interested. Its still not game quality sound but it gives you an idea of the loudness of a rifle...
