If someone's willing than why not? I'm not prejudiced to Mexicans and would play as them. I assume if the faction is created it would be a Peacekeeping Force and/or dealing with drug mafias.

:D It could be cool to have Mexican Army in BF2;
But no like in a war like Op. Desert Storm or that styles, The style could be the actual war against drug cartels. to add more realism, and maps like huge cities, or in the sea with air bases with helicopters instead of planes or stuff like that.

So I will help also if someone wants to do the mod. :p

I just want everyone that is suggesting this faction to look at the main forum page. Now how many factions still have to be completed? If you want to get yours included faster, I would recommend helping out with these factions so we can finish them quicker. Also remember for each new faction, there are new guns, new assets, and new models. This increases the size of the PR file on your computer. I want to remind everyone that you'll probably need to get about 8 gb of ram if we satisfy everyones faction requests.

Yes, I know but, why not put them like mini-mods instead of a bigger mod, with its own models textures and factions, including he original if you want to.

thats pretty much what community factions are. The Devs (well not officially) arent working on all those factions but instead allowed the community to work on them as "mini-mods" that are to be included in the full build

So, if the devs arent working on the mod lets start it us. The all I need is the program used to modeling the vehicles and weapons, who joins me?

BoneCrusherr201, its is extremely difficult to get a community faction off the ground. It takes many many many hours of really hard work. Everyone shoots you down, and there are very few people willing to help you out. For a long time it is purely the lead who has to do everything. You have to scour the bf2 (not just PR) modding scene for people that will invest time in the project. It took me months to gather the support needed to start the nzdf faction.

You need to be sure that your faction adds something valuable to the mod, not just that you want to see the country ingame because your patriotic.

Do you have any prior bf2 modding experience? It is very difficult to be starting a new faction, and teaching yourself to mod at the same time. Take one step at a time. My advice to you would be find a community faction team who will take you under their wing, and teach you some skills. Then once you have contributed successfully to that faction, you should pursue the mexican forces comfac.

I'm not trying to totally put you off this faction mate, so don't take it the wrong way. Just telling you how it is brother ;)

The Dutch (and Germans as well I think) started somewhere in 2007... go figure :o .

Well ComFacs started in 2007 with Canadians being first. :p

Also I think portraying the current war on drugs in Mexico wouldn't be a bad idea, of course a completely new scenario would need everything made from scratch. And could also feature them in fictional American conflicts with Brazil or sth?

I know it's difficult, but I have some sources about mexican armed forces, and experience modeling, but having a team that helps, with maps, blueprints, and other stuff, it could be more easy to finish it.

The photos also help to make the models, actually I'm working on a plane and a ship of Mexican Navy for FS9 taken from photos, in Gmax, so I know its difficult to model vehicles.

But if any wants to help me, welcome to the team,

Well if you are serious about starting a project, you just have to take the initiative and start yourself. If you wait around forever waiting for others to come on board it just becomes vaporware. If you set manageable goals like re-texturing and existing faction and having your own with maybe all place-holder weapons and assets, its a huge start. When people see progress like that, they will want to help.

As Tim270 said.... try doing some stuff on your own and if it's good enough to create interest about the faction, You will get a much easier time finding people willing t help you.

I know it's kind of a risk project since you'd be working without the assurance that your stuff is going to be used or will attract people to it. Welcome to the gaming industry :D
