Well I guess it depends how you define teamwork. Its not a forced "artificial" teamwork, its more of a voluntary one that benefits greatly your situation with more realism in general.

Well, pr is modeled on realistic actions, but often takes unrealistic approaches to doing them. Combined arms is trying to make it so that you get a realistic battle and gameplay from realistic actions. Might sound a bit confusing, but you can consider CAS, for example. Planes in pr wait for CAS because they can't do any/little damage with their weapons unless they have a laser marker, but in combined arms they'll do it because they can't confirm the target without coming in close, which makes them 90 % vulnerable to the revamped ground based AA. So unless you want to die, you'll want to be called in on a run. Even using radar is hard because you don't know what you're targetting, and you can see dead/friendly vehicles too.
Basically, what we're trying to do is get realistic assets to perform realistic tactics, rather than having their job/tactics get changed because of bad compromises.

That sounds good, but my question is, how well does it work?
Is infantry combat what it should be (the core of each team)? Do people try to lone wolf, and if so, do they succeed? Making realistic tactics available is one thing, but if players can think of something that they consider more "fun" to do with the system, then they're prone to take advantage of it. If it works at intended by the time I'm home, I might consider checking it out though. Looks like it may be fun.
(And please, no one say "just download it and try!" because I can't at the moment, I won't have access to my computer with PR on it until mid May

).

Well infantry will certainly not be the core of kashan/desert rats until after the vehicles of the enemy team have been suppressed.
I guess you could try, infantry have the javelin and such, but infantry aren´t frontline fighters in this situation.
I mean when there is 5 enemy tanks facing you out of range of your anti tank weapons, and an attack helicopter flying overhead, the last thing you want to be is an infantry squad in the middle of the desert.

Guys, remember, it's still being developped. We haven't implemented everything we want yet, even though we're all antsy to get it released

Finding the right balance so that nothing's too powerful that the game relys on it, or that assymetry works well, and that you can't simply try zerg tactics requires fine tuning, which comes after the core weapons systems, counter measures, land assets, or w/e get implemented. That's pretty much happened, so we're now doing the fine tunning for the most part.

Ok i get it.. its a mod for the purely tankers & flyboys. Sounds like the mod should be renamed to something more appropriate.
Good luck with it... but its not for me. I prefer the true combined arms approach that the PR dev team are taking, where compromises are made to enhance gameplay & teamwork.

Actually, that makes perfect sense to me

I'll check it out when I get a chance to before drawing any solid conclusions, of course, but it does sound like an idea that actually might work out quite nicely.

Kashan and Desert Rats are maps for tankers and flyboys, that's just how the map is. I suggest you play the mod to see the infantry/asset dynamic.

Its not that infantry aren´t a part of it...
Its just the only maps that have had anything done to them happen to be a kashan and a wake style maps, which are vehicle based maps.
The idea is, to give everything realistic attributes and scaled in ranges. Aircraft can lock in real life? They lock in game. Tanks can track in real life? The can in game (not the best way, but a compromise that represents it). Hellfire out ranges your tank. Infantry bullent drop is more realistic aswell, but needs zeroing.
Its not about whoring vehicles, or raping infantry, its about putting everything in its right place.
And I am afraid to say, I don´t think incredible aa vs almost useless aircraft that have to rely on a slow moving sticky box (because thats "teamwork") quite represents it.
But each to their own opinions.

Ok, sorry but I'm not gonna search trough 8 pages and there are no information about it on first page... What is combined arms ? According to the video in the tales from the front section, it has some very nice feature, why isnt it implemented into pr yet ?

Combined Arms or simply CA is an addon for PR that's currently in beta testing. it focuses on more realistic approach to everything, but mostly vehicles. the goal for the DEV team of CA is to recreate as close to reality functioning of vehicles/weapons/aircraft, like tank tracking system, radar for AA and aircraft, longer possible engagement range for aircraft. it isn't already implemented in PR for 2 reasons:
1.it's still a beta, some things don't work good, they need to be tested or fixed
2.PR DEVs say that some features of CA do not fit PR style of gameplay and do not require teamwork, promoting lone-wolfing instead. i disagree with this, because i have actually played the mod and can say that teamwork > lone wolfing, it just works as it should in CA, no false compromises.

Realistic attributes?
Like spins, stalls, black outs, red outs, realistic energy managment etc?
Or just realistic looking MFDs?
In Falcon 4.0 i had 3 hours with the manual in hand just to understand how the ground radar works.
The ability to lock on everything just by point your hud on it is a realistic attribute?
IRL Hellfire needs a very complex managment just for identify the target.
Its not just point and shoot.
I agree with MadTommy.
Its a very good SP mod. But for MP i prefer the PR approach.
After all everyone has his own opinion about fun factor

And to add intellectually to a discussion, you have to know what your talking about. You can't just make a blanket statement about something you know nothing about and expect people to accept that.
