Well. Speeds this morning was a tad slow due to my seeder box providers not getting the files in time for the release. Blame AncientMan for that one (Or me for forgetting to e-mail the the data).

They now a few boxes on the job and so speeds should not be faster. So that is why they was slow this morning.

Now on the the chap that had an issue. RE Run the "PR-Downloader" This will clear up and broken files in your mods/pr folder. The "PR-Downloader" is designed to hash check all files before it downloads new or updated ones.

Because you stopped part way. You would have left incomplete files in your mods/pr folder. They need to be deleted or fixed. This in fact would not have any problems that I am aware off. So if you run the "PR-Downloader" it will fix any broken/incomplete files.

Seems that when you cancel the installation midway it assumes that download has finished and creates shortcuts and generally confuses people.
"Reality has been installed", "Reboot now".

Is rebooting even needed?

Point noted. Will work on wording for next version

As for the reboot flag. Well on some users computers. They don't have ".Net Framework 2" or above install. The "PR-Downloader" will install it for you if you don't have it. And it is always best to reboot after a ".Net framework" install.

Goes rather slow atm. But works for me! Don't have to do this installation stuff.

i started this dl about 15mins ago, it's at 55% already... seemed to dl to 47% in like 8mins and now slowed abit... in my task manager > networking... it says 100mbps speed and the network is utilizing 2-3%, does that mean it's downloading at a rate of 2mb or 3mb a second?

another question, the 0.87 update from 0.86 isn't really only 20mb is it?

i don't know if this is logical or not, but if i leave my system idle, it goes much faster lol

Just finished the download. Took about 3 hours, with a 1 hour pause.

Good speed and no installing time. Very Good, I recommend it for anyone!

Jonny wrote:Its missing a LOT of information that I really want to know when its going to take about 2 days to finish.

What was it trying to dowload?
What was the speed it was getting?
What had it finished downloading?
What was still waiting to start?

Because of all that I am using BitTorrent now, the information that I want to know is right there and I have control over what happens.

Your downloader needs to show all of that info, and it needs to let you change the default behaviour of downloading and installing every patch it cant find. I still have the .86 installer, I can only assume that your downloader would have forced me to download it all again.

Check your PMs, too.

Hey, don't like the way it looks? Go make a better one. I Am for sure no expert in this sort of thing. What I will say is that it works. And in the last 2 builds. It has worked 100%. Not one error or issue to do with PR not working has been down to the "PR-Downloader".

I think what Jonny is saying is that the user interface requires feedback. Although I understand the point of view that "if it works it works and so what" (which is the programmers perspective) ... to the end user, the actual impression of whether an application works or not is in fact through the user interface, rather than the result.

From the point of view of user centered programing, if the app does not inform you that its working then it is not working ... even if it is. It just one of the fundamental aspects of software design that you have to take on board .... as irritating as it ... and end users ... are. ;)

Personally for a downloader that I might use as a user, I generally like to have feedback on the rate and the expected delivery time. I also like to have a way to throttle the speed to my preference, in order to allow free bandwidth and i need feedback to inform me that this is happening. Its a pain ... I know, but the user starts to fear the worse if he does not know what is happening.

Having such information available also helps with the process of debugging and error reporting.

Oh, I Have no doubt about how it looks as a gui. But I am not a programmer really. I Am noob at such things. I have said before if anybody wants the code to make there own version. They can have it. It's all open source stuff.

You have to remember I build this for none expert computer users. And the only pepole that wish to see all the extra gizmos are computer experts. I Would love to have all that extra stuff in there. But I am bugged if I can make it happen. I Am just not that good.

So if you think you can do better. Please do take the code and build a better one. I Would love to see it. I really would.

Programmers are actually usually pretty bad and making user interfaces, so don't beat yourself up, its HCI and useability designers who usually dream up interfaces ... they do strange things like watching people use computers while taking notes in a little book.

Bloody boring stuff to be honest :D

Ridiculously slow (11% in 24 hours), considering that it took approx 4 hours 1 month ago for 100%.

And why does it ask to reboot? Normal install doesn't need that...
