Yeah, like stated all above... P.R. is a great teamwork, but in real life, as far as i known, i'm still at Combat Training Center [ C.F.B. Gagetown ] they are soooo many thing involve during operation, that a game cannot get close to it, especialy on the psycological side... in P.R. if you die you respawn... during conflict, you fear for you're life, the one of you're fellow camarades, you have to figth you're fear, the adrenaline, every thing, bullet wizzle all around you... its unacheivable on P.C. sorry.

Yeah I agree that there is no way to make the game real (At least on PC)

Only similarity to real combat are the vehicles, troops, rifles and bullets, equipment and thats about it...
I believe real soldiers take more time engaging the enemy and stay behind cover longer...support is avaliable more frequently (arty)...

This game would be above all other video games, under airsoft.
This game is awesome though, but I think it would be better if the airfield get even farther away from the battlefield, or just spawn pilots/planes over the combat area on request.

You can compare PR with another great game..
UFC Undisputed.
This game has some similarities with PR.
Characters look real, their movements look real.
They use the same weapons as the do in a real UFC fight.
You must plan and use diffrent tactics versus different opponents.
You must be aware of your stamina.. or things might end bad
All this makes the game feel a thousand times more real than other fighting games like
Tekken, Streetfighter and so on..
But it´s still pretty f---ing far from actually stepping in to the ring with another man who wants nothing more than seeing you lying on the floor, unconscius and bloody.
It might take years of hard training to even get to that point.
Because in real life you just cant push a button to do something as simple as throwing a left jabb
(foot positioning, chin down, shoulders up, right elbow tight to your body, right hand protects right chin, left hand infront of left chin. Shift weight to front foot, turn torso, extend left arm in straight line while still keeping left shoulder up. Pull back hand in straigh line).
I think this is true in every other aspect of combat too..

My opinion is that PR is classified as arcade or tactic-shooter. It is not even near to being classified as a simulation. You don't have to use as many drills or other stuff you have to use in RL to succeed. If you really want to play something "realistic" join a clan and play ArmA 2.
ATM that is the closest you can come to RL combats (except for airsoft).

Project Reality is best described as what it is: a realism mod build upon an arcade game. It still retains many arcade features, and many workarounds to actual things occurring in reality (IE, weapon sway, ballistics, vehicle damage systems, etc...), as well as many omissions (IE, aircraft radar, both AA and AG, SAM radar, backup irons, etc...).
It's plagued by hardcoded mechanics from BF2, gameplay workarounds, and many omissions from reality in the though of modding the players, IE gameplay.
But if you get over what it's not, you'll at least discover that it is much more realistic than the game it was built on, as well as many if not most other FPS games.

The guys who fly UAVs in Afghanistan/Iraq yet work in trailers in the Nevada desert who have come home to their families everyday probably have a different idea of realism too.
I read an article a while back, somewhere, where one pilot mentioned it was like playing a game, until it dawns on you that the little pixels on the screen are PEOPLE, and it kind of hits you that wow - I just watched them die.
I guess my point is you can have "real combat" without being in immediate personal danger, and it's scary to think that people in a dissociated game world could be launching Hellfire missles at insurgents at 3pm and eating dinner with the kids at 6pm.

>.> I enjoyed the game and I'd have to say. Since the day I found it I have been complety happy with all changed(expect taking away wrench fix) I found this mod and got away from vanilla bf2. My freinds and I have had countless fun, and to think? It only cost 20 dollars for a exp?
PR the 50 dollars I NEVER payed for.

Arma is wannabe realistic... and its not so immersive as PR, but its better simulation than PR, thats true.

I know that ArmA 2 has many problems. Physic is ****, most sights are not realistic and the hit model is sh*t. But if you play it in a clan, it is the most realistic game i have every played.
I already played with guys, who served in an army and they teached us what they learned there. And many things I learned from them are really neccessary ingame.
I personally never played a military game, which is so complex and RL oriented as ArmA 2 is before.

It is just a game. If you wanted to make people fear a bit more for there lives in game, make it so when they die they just dont respawn. Sure it won't make the player have that sense of fear that you will get in real combat.
I love PR but chances are i will never join the army. For the simple reason I fear what may happen. PR gives you a feeling but it will never be like the real thing.
Also PR at time does make your heart rate increase, e.g when you are patroling in a jeep and you suddenly hit by a rpg. You come under fire. that is what get your heart thumping. Then you see the dead soldiers you try to heal them not becuase you give a **** about them but becuase you want the xp.
