No, you don't call SWAT to defuse bombs. Or arrest anyone. Or save hostages.

Jack Bauer does these things. SWAT is only called to run through the wrong building saying "clear" - or running through the rooms Jack Bauer just cleared, saying "clear". While looking leet.

Why? Because USA and Chine has close economical ties. They depend on each other. Thus Brits waging a war against Chinese would be a suicide and unrealistic.

Now that... Is sick. Imagine an invasion over the Niagara Falls.

But back to the topic. Imagine all the statics that have to be done.

I am in support of any fun, new, interesting game modes. Personally, I play PR for fun so I can handle a slightly unrealistic scenario if it's fun to play :) .

I think an LA 'gang war' game mode would be ace! xD

But seriously, CTU vs. terrorists, if done well, would be a fresh and fun new way of playing :) .

Stu.

To OP, what kind of area would you be looking to recreate? Pics?

Like CodeRedFox said LA is massive. And a lot of it has huge commercials buildings all around. Which would be a little hard to fake with the bf2 statics. Maybe Beverly Hills or some other upscale residential neighbourhood could be done. But even then, some big *** mansions/houses would need to be created.

I'd love to see an urban North American map in PR, but i honestly don't think it could be done (and look good) with the statics we have to work with.

Why? Because USA and Chine has close economical ties. They depend on each other. Thus Brits waging a war against Chinese would be a suicide and unrealistic.
The possibility of a limited conflict between the west/china is not unrealistic. It could easily happen in central asia or southeast asia, possibly even northeast asia, if China felt its borders were threatened by the presence of US/UK troops. It happened in Korea, and at that time China was barely a state. Even though it was going through communist reforms in much of the country, which threw all of society into disorder, the Chinese mobilized a million troops based on a fear that the US would take action in direct contradiction to their stated policy. Now that China has a well-developed military, and an entrenched authoritarian government, how can you argue that they would not react with force if they felt threatened?

Recreating LA would be ridiculous, just a buttload of statics, and obviously a map could only cover a very small portion of the city, since LA covers almost 1300 square kilometers. Even a 4km map is not going to do any justice to LA, and it would still be a serious headache. I do think it would be really cool to see US vs China in a city somewhere though.

It should be Ramiel size. Tanks and APCs. No aircraft.

As far as story, really not that important, but a simple scenario. MEC or China decide to throw a curve ball to the US by invading the mainland. Would likely be a suicide mission, but its intended to take the US's eyes off the middle east or China and focus assets on defending America, making the battle a little easier for them in their home turf. We could say that the US was caught off guard, making the invasion possible, and letting the MEC or China several miles inland. Its just as realistic as China and the US getting into a real fight.
So basically it's the same backstory as Armored Fury, except with a good PR quality urban map? LA, being a sprawl city, would provide a different sort of urban combat from Muttrah, which is good. I can imagine tanks fighting it out on the main highways while infantry fight through subdivisions to take objectives.

Now, where are we going to find the slaves to make the statics for this map?

I realize how big LA is. I've lived there. It would NOT be downtown. It would be a LA suburb with downtown in the distance as part of the sky dome as a 2D texture.

It would be the size of Ramiel I would guess, maybe even smaller. Suburbs to the south (armored fury statics), a freeway to the East (again, armored fury). As you go north, the suburbs turn into "barrios" (fallujah statics). As you head further north, you get the nasty LA river (all cemented out), followed by a rail yard. Sprinkled about would be a park, and other statics that ALREADY exist - for instance, the USMC fallujah base would be great as a school.

USMC (or US army) could start in the south, the MEC (or China) can start to the north.

All statics that already exist. There would be no massive freeway interchange. Its doable guys.

Woot Woot for Camp Pendelton. That thing is massive BTW, would you rather make a map out of Pendelton?
[R-DEV]CodeRedFox wrote:Problem is Los Angeles its really....really too big. I dont think people realize how massive LA is
Do Huntington Beach where there are Oilfields and Offshore **** going on all over the place. That would make a good back story about resources. However if you do Huntington Beach you gotta put a little something about the Dog Beach. I took my pup there and I thought we'd never leave.

Slaves is a strong word, I prefer "Indentured Servants."
