I actually read the manual several times before even downloading the mod. Why? Because i wasnt willing to destroy any of my vBF2 data and i was searching for those magic words that said "Instalation of Project Reality will still allow you to play your Battlefield 2 game as normal".
But as for why i think people dont read read the manual is accessibility. The version that comes with your download is a PDF file, and from what i know, you need Adobe Reader to open it. I dont know about everyone else, but I dont even have Microsoft Word on my computer anymore. And the version that was previously accessible from the web site( I say previously accessible because the "Guide" button at the top no longer works) was outdated. On top of that, how many people actually read anything anymore? If i had the time and manpower, i would love to do a video guide to PR. I had started on a PR guide as a wordpad document, but lost intrest a short ways into it. But after reading this thread, its given me motivation to finish it.

I remember a guy that wanted to fly the A-10 recently. I asked "Have you read the manual?" and he was like "No you f**ker." Let's just say he didn't get his pilot's license.
If only there was like a quiz question every time you tried to enter a server that contained something from the manual. (EX Press the key you normally would to drop a repair crate in a supply truck). If you do it wrong, it prevents you from connecting for like 30 seconds.

Im glad to hear that Wh33lman,i hope you follow trough with that as manny new players would be able to benefit from your knowledge
Im also hoping that sometime in the future we will see an updated version here on the forum, making the manual more available for people.
Wish we could get word on how the "Guide" section is doing

so i went back to the original copy that i saved, and i realized just how insanely dry and boring it is. I've started on a new one (the original was based on .85), but i still think video is the way to go. Most people cant be bothered to read anything, so i think interestering and funny videos would actually hold their attention.

LyfTaker wrote:Maybe there could be a function, like when you first join a forum and you have to click the "I read the rules" button before you can post, maybe you have to read the manual and pass a quiz before you can install PR on your PC?
OP:I have read the whole manual.
No, no one is going to tell me I can't install a game on my PC because I didn't read the manual and take a quiz. What about people reinstalling after they got a new computer, or even reinstalling on the same computer?
Everything is fine as is. People may not read the manual and they try to fly a helicopter an crash, but how often does that happen? Certainly not more than everybody says. There are people on the road that are new drivers and don't make the best decisions, but they drive and hit a pole and it causes a traffic jam. It's relatively the same with PR and new drivers. There is a lot of tutorials on youtube that could ,all tutorials organized and combined methodically, replace the manual. Even so, I do support reading the manual and training servers.
EDIT: However, I partially agree that when you join the forum, after your registration is successful and it says "Welcome to PR" or whatever it should also be written "take a look at the manual or tutorials on youtube in order to utilize your playing time to the most.

I read it when it was installing, is good to prevent boredom and falling with your head on the alt f4 keys making you have to download it again

Does the manual mention how the weapon deviation system works at all? I know you can't hit shit at a distance if you move (WASD) and don't stand still for awhile, but how much does moving your view with the mouse effect this?

Thanks, that was the only part of the mod I did not fully understand despite the fact that I never really read the manual. It seems plenty of people ask about the shovel but that was easy to understand considering that half of the time I spawn in, my squad leader has me digging that firebase/bunker/foxhole.

Ok, so for my hundredth post, i thought ive give an update to my manual. Its gone through 4 different "builds", and its still no where close to being done. The first one was more of a "matter of fact" about the kits and not really a guide. The second has alot of useful information, but kinda jumped around and was hard to follow. The third kinda treated the reader like an idiot, and thats not what I was aiming for. for the 4th edition, ive narrowed it to a vehical guide. I felt I can give much better info for vehicals and the medic kit in particular, as those are what I usually play.
I could definatly use some help. I dont play most of the other kits, and i dont really know much about them. I have no idea how to use the Grenadier kit, and for the life of me i cant figure out what the civilains cell phone is for.

I read the manual, only to find nearly everything in it outdated and useless. I have not checked current manuals on PR since.
