I think this thread just shows people are bored and trying to find something new to complain about soon enough you wont be able to kill another player because shooting another person is wrong...

Gonna say same I did on RT. As long as the squad name doesn't have some rude words in it, don't think anybody really cares. People have been making squads with lot of different religious or ethnic stuff in the names and no one really cared, unless its in very offensive way (" go f* u self").
Honestly were playing a game where there is Israeli army with Israeli flag along with religious symbols getting their heads blown up, what we do bout players who get offended bout that? I promise theres plenty who get angry bout that.

This all seems to be non jewish people assuming what a jewish person would and would not tolerate, how about you let them decide?

BF2 has had the MEC, who have a star and moon from the muslim religion since it was released. There's nothing special about the IDF having a religious mark on their flag, nor is taking offense to someone offending a third party illogical.
While loljew isn't the same as dropping n-bombs, it is just like having a squad named lolnegro, lolasian or lolwhitey. The reason that people take more offense to people mocking jews is simply because they are the most recent widely recognized recipient of attempted extermination due to the Nazis. People who aren't jewish still identify with that, even though they might not be aware of other cultures who have recently had the same kind of situation.
In any case, making a squad name that mocks any group is immature and offensive to anyone who recognizes ignorance and trolling behavior. I have no respect for those that have similar names for insurgents either, but I would expect the whole jew thing to be less of an issue in a year, as the insurgent team had the same reaction when insurgency became it's own game mode.

LOL at guys calling Israel "HEEBs" on one of the servers I was on. Its really not anymore offensive than the Allah stuff which I usually say myself or "TEAMWOK" as China.

Squad names are getting more and more comical and less and less meaningful. Leave it up to the admins to police it. If you dont like a squad name dont join it. If you want to be a whistleblower talk to an admin. Myself, I just don't join them. There are always veery stupid, but non-racial/anti-semitic or whatever. I've seen BJ Queens and all sorts of bad stuff.. - Just dont join, better yet, start your own with a very nice name, like Nice Guys or something, and start a revolution on the server.

as a jew and as a israelien, that thing isn't much of a problem, we are so familier with such things that we almost don't care at all, [we just hate everyone :d ], the only problem that might happen[if there would be more israeli players in the game

] are cursing and teamkilling but there aren't many jews playing PR and the one that does are usually calm, it's more of a teamwork problem than anything else, and should be left for the admins to decide.

This whole topic offends me. Send in the PoutineInf squad to throw down some banstick!
Toughen up a bit ladies and play the game. If you want to really make a difference run for public office, then you can force change though economics, culture, and <gasp> state-sponsored violence.
In the mean time it's a Server Admin issue.

you very much
wrong, the "star and moon from the muslim religion" is not the symbol for Islam.
alot of people
think (hell even some Muslims do) that the Crescent and Star are the "Muslim symbol" like the Star of David or the Cross. thats totaly wrong, in fact the Cresecnt and Star only became assosiated with Islam b/c of the Ottaman Empire. Islam doesnt really have a "symbol" and back in the old old days when Islam was new Muslims used a solid color flag as the symbol.

I stand corrected that it did not come
from Islam, but it is
widely associated as a representation of Islam, and pointing out a 500 year old association as a reason to disassociate the symbol is rather illogical. The many mosques that have the star and crescent featured prominently is why there is a current, and therefore relevant, association between the symbol and the religion.
Congratulations on being able to use google.

Well since pretty much every Jewish/Isreali person on this thread has said that it doesn't bother them I think we can wrap this up now.

its very common for Minarets to have the star on the top (they only have the Cresent w/o the star) so use you mighty google powers to find any pics of any Minarets with both on, chances are your not even gonna get one. anyway dont take it personally, I wasint trying to be a smart ***, I was just kinda exited because thats literary the first time I got to correct a big misconseption.

Seems to me that naming your squad "allah" isn't such a big deal although it could be offensive to Muslims. Someone makes one for the Jews and all hell breaks lose. Seems favoritism to me. Not supporting such idiot names but I on occasion roleplay. Then again I usually name those squads "Mujahadeen" or "Jihad" or something, which shouldn't really be offensive at all.
If you're going to disallow jewish type squad names, disallow muslim squad names as well. It's only fair.

You are right, I didn't find
one.
I'm also guessing you used a link such as this:
Crescent Moon - Symbol of Islam? for your details which starts off with "The crescent moon and star is an internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam." and goes on to explain the actual source of the symbol. But it really doesn't matter where the symbol comes from, the current usage of the symbol is to represent Islam and that is what matters.
Yes, I was wrong to say it came from Islam, but my association was correct that is the more important thing. Eventually the whole IDF thing will get old and only immature and racist players will keep trolling the faction.

ummmm no, no I didnt just randomly look up if the Crecent and Star was the symbol, Ive read about it in something called a book, anyway thats only 2 pics like 99.9% of everything else doesnt use it so yeah....your still wrong. and just cuz some small number of ppl use something to represent something it dont make it the symbol. and i tend to beleve that BF2 doesnt have any kind of association with any religion, just the assosiation with differnt factions, hence the Cresent and Star which more than likely represnt Middle Eastern Countries and not Muslim nations.
