Why is this? What feature of one channel mumble causes you so much pleasure that you can't play without it?

Just curious.

OT, I had a reasonable round earlier today. Decent enough teamwork and as Rudd says it needs to age to get a regular playerbase up, but looking good so far.

I dont really want to turn on mumble and see 6 channels there, then go ask ingame wich one is the right then go out, change etc etc...

Secodnly I want to hear enemies too, adds some roleplay at some moments.

Overall I get the better feeling.

Thats why I kept on joining RT and never joined TG if i wanted to play on mumble.

Well from my experience (on RT) one channel leads to much childishness and spam, with people constantly talking on force center. The "roleplay" just turns into silliness and for me ruins the atmosphere and immersion of the game. In addition you just get to situations where you are in close proximity to enemies and therefore can't use mumble for fear of them hearing you, meaning you end up reverting back to VOIP.

Two channels is a much more mature way to play the game imo, hence why it works so well on TG.

Besides it really is not difficult to check which is the correct team, just look at the SLs and then compare on mumble.

Also, who cares if it is one channel (TG) or 2 (RT) its mumble !!! and mumble = win. if u wont play TG or PMC what other servers use mumble with more than 10 people?. also two channels take VERY little effort, just join in the "waiting room" , check SL's on your team and then check the SL's on the mumble (no need to ask) then join the channel. takes a full 5-6 seconds.

Jigsaw is right, one channel system only led to unnecessary spam on force center and childlish 'I've killed you, noob!' comments. No immersion or roleplay in it at all.
And besides, due to limitations of BF2 engine - its totally unrealistic to hear someone within 70 m, especially if they're after large obstacle or building.

2 channels ftw!

SL coms is hell
Concur on both. Had to ditch the SL channel, it was constant forced with people illustrating every aspect of how their specific battle turned out.
Looking forward for the future.

IDK about before, but last night (Muttrah) SL channel was very good IMO, SL's were GazzThompson, Redwater, L4gi, Narco, Ryan, Space and myself can't remember them all though. I think only one squad were'nt in it.
True though SL's must all try to keep it to what's really needed and not swamp it.
Give it time good SL comms are still a bit new.
