Yeah Ghost Train was awesome. Mestia was awesome before the butchering with the new cap points and the flags they kept.

As far as the people saying the new maps aren't good.... What? the new ones are great!

Bi Ming! yeah that was a great map. Most of the armor pu55ies hated it, but but us who weren't afraid to fight outside of armor absolutely loved it.

I guess I'm like the only one who wants good ol' vanilla Zatar Wetlands. A nice swampy-jungly map where firebases use to be set up in mountains, snipers would try to snipe the carrier, and AA would blow the MEU to pieces. Well, maybe it could use a slight redesign, but I liked the swampy feel of it, and the lack of buildings. Essentially, it's a map without cover, lot's of air support, and no heavy vehicles since they would be stuck in the mud. Makes for a very interesting feel that maps nowadays just don't have.

Operation Phoenix was the shi6 haha seriously, I loved that map!, Assault on Mestia was also a DAMN good map, and Ghost Train also bring these maps back!

I miss good old rambo style in Assault on Mestia. Though I came when 0.86, I would love to see the first released maps of the first versions (maybe a possible map pack?).

Beirut I think is the poorest of the new maps by a long distance as it just does not have any kind of density to it. I remember when it was being shown people were saying it looked like the new Muttrah but really it is more akin to Muttrah v1 than v2, ie. small, unrealistic and an insult to its illustrious neighbour. It is by far the worst of the new maps in terms of quality and detail, just look at the level of detail on Iron Ridge or Siege at Ochamachira and you will see the difference.
Considering the map was made in one month I think its quite good.

What sets it apart from Muttrah is its open spaces, but the name of the map should be changed to an Israeli city or something.

Time taken to make a map isn't any excuse to why something is or isn't done for a map made for the full build. Anyone can rush a map, I made Op Snow Storm in only 4 days for example (including making all the snow textures etc) but you wouldn't want me throwing out loads of terrain based maps every 4 days etc and then have the excuse of 90% of the map's now in PR have little to no statics on them because they where made in a short space of time...

So what, the PR team decided that even though the map wasn't properly done to the standards of a real Beirut that it should be put in anyway, even though this apparently seems to be the BAD idea?

No all I'm saying is time taken to make a map is no excuse to why things are not done for any map, its you guys who are saying that the map isn't upto scratch and then you saying "that's ok since it was only done in 1 month".

How isn't it?

The map is not as dense and developed as it could be, yet it was made in a short timespan. I'm sure the mapmaker was on a tight schedule since he was asked to develop one for the next release?

To be honest its the beta tester's fault for not properly taking things on the map into consideration such as the time it takes for the APC's to make landfall and the overeffectiveness of the Merkava's if you ask me.

Well most maps take more than one release cycle to make and if we are talking about Bruit it was made in less than a release cycle and also the mapper was making more than one map at the time and has no plans on updating the map in the future afaik but that's just a general observation.

In: ZATAR WETLAND meets Vanilla SONGHUA STALEMATE meets current PR standards.

Out: Lashkar Valley- The map layout is good, however I just don't like it all that much.

I wish I had some advice to hand out for Lashkar, sorry.

Are you inclining that the map may be removed in the future due to its lack of development, assuming you are at liberty to say such a thing.

I'm not inclining anything I'm just saying in my first post, time taken to make something isn't an excuse for anything and since you asked I pointed out that Bruit was made in a much shorter period than most maps.

EDIT: lol Nyte at your sig, did you get that pic from the .9 muttrah gameplay testing? :p

Guys, if you miss a map so hard, why don't you make a community map out of it?
There are more than 150 servers, most of them empty all the time...
Be unique, host your beloved maps and players will come and love you ;)

Most insurgency maps have my vote to be revamped, or removed altogether. Like said before, Korengal, really revolves the battle around the US Main. Fallujah, now is simply a rape fest, with shooters all around the archway and gary's waiting for the armored vehicles to come out and finish off whatever hope the US has of winning the game. Karbala is ok, so is Ramiel, but like many maps in my opinion don't have as much as a warm, cozy feeling to them. With ambient lights, variable lighting, etc. Something I've seen in other mods. Lashkar Valley is the same issue as Korengal. The issue with these maps has to be the size, remember Phantom Fury? Supposedly the most insurgent ridden city in all of Iraq? Even that had spread out pockets of resistance, nowhere close to what we have in PR. If were going to get anywhere in insurgency, we need to start making 4x4km maps, with air support layers.
