Re: Lakshar valley Perfect Terrain for APACHE AH64
Okay stealth, don't bump this thread again. The map is "too small" for an attack helicopter. Even if it was accepted, it wouldn't be an Apache, it would be a Tiger. The Germans are receiving this map in .92.

1.
Myles the LYNX is currently on this map and i fly it all the time, i got over 60-65 rounds doing Transport squad in the LYNX, ive flown the whole map and its easy to make it out of main, I usually get a Sniper to join my squad and watch for technicals in the Hills.
2.
The lynx is perfectly suited for this map, and i believe the Apache will do even better because it can shoot back when techs are shooting at you, unlike the lynx where if a tech gets the drop on you and hits you with around 10 - 12 rounds of 50 cal your down.
3.
Also the apache base could possibly be located in the bottom Left ( SouthWest ) corner of the map, with One spawn point and it could also act as a Forward observation base for snipers to spawn at or infantry squads. It would also have HESCO barriers and MG nest to defend.( This would work kind of how Korrengal Valley spawn point system that is in place on that map and the taliban would not be able to reach it because it is located in the Dome of Death.)

Re: Lakshar valley Perfect Terrain for APACHE AH64
Absolutely not. Even though i love everything that flies and my favorite role is operating an attack chopper, an apache would be overpowered on this map. Sure it would be cool for the blufor but used properly, it would just rape talibans while being invincible.
In the wrong hands however, it would just mean a constant ticket loss cause everybody would want to fly it. And if a techi has the drop on you, even the mighty 30mm cannon can't save you. By the time you locate it, you are dead.
That being said, i agree with the idea of giving blufor close air support on insurgent maps, but only light attack choppers like the hydra littlebirds on karbala. Anything that can be used as an orbital bombardment platform would make insurgency even more frustrating for the opfor team.

Look, the OPFOR are supposed to be the underdog, just give UK or De their CAS.

No. Apache would overpower the map on insurgency.

Because it got raped in its main constantly and the new main is a bit small? When it didn't get killed it did pretty good, but the insurgents really had to suck to not shoot it down.myles wrote:WHy do you think they took it out then?

if the mapper wnated an apache the base would've been made bigger to acomidate it? plus the base is big enough .....FuzzySquirrel wrote:Because it got raped in its main constantly and the new main is a bit small? Re: Lakshar valley Perfect Terrain for APACHE AH64
i think that the only way to kill someone in the british base is
shooting at 'em from 300 or 400 meters... The british base in
lakshkar is out of the map area for the taliban... (or
DoD, i don't know how it's called in english :roll
Atleast at the server that i play... and it's very hard to hit an rpg at the lynx from 300 or 400 meters away, so i usually use a svd or a sniper rifle...
But how would the insurgents shot down the apache if it is in flight?
one SA-7 on every weapon caches?
or deployable anti-air machineguns... or .50's with a angle of 90º, like the hideouts...
i don't know, i wasn't at the old version where there was apaches on insurgent maps...
correct me if i'm wrong...

A transport chopper is very diffrent to an APACHE gunship.
The Lynx is going to make very fast trips across the map while the Apache is going to try and hover in the sky being a big target for techies or if it trys to hide behind hills i could see techies just hitting it easily when RTBing cuz it would be flying too low and also the map is very narrow it will be too cramped to be in a safe zone to attack the target

Lashkar is simply too small with nowhere for the Apache to hide. While you might compare the map to Muttrah City since its also 2km, it actually has terrain to maneuver in, streets with tall buildings to use. Maybe a 4km version, but look at it, its simply far to small. Adding hesco barriers and making a new spawn only fixes a small problem, but at the same time making a rape spot for the enemy to camp.
Besides a armor upgrade would be far better than adding a asset that would probably be lost immediately.

The Germans are using the Tiger for their faction.
Eurocopter Tiger Attack Helicopter
And if they're using the Bolkow Bo 105, they could use it in an attack version that is similar to the Little Bird, not sure if they're using the 105 though in PR. I do know they are using the Huey and they could use the CAS version of that if the DEV's wanted a change for Lashkar.

The original main was big enough for it. Techies would sit behind the main and just wait for it to crest the wall and blow it to hell. It was removed during the original rework of the map where US main was too small for it anyways. The first us main after the change was extremely small, humvees actually spawned on the edge of the lb helipads.killonsight95 wrote:if the mapper wnated an apache the base would've been made bigger to acomidate it? plus the base is big enough .....

But yeah, the map is too small for a attack chopper imo.
