If you aren't playing on max or close to that the game looks like shite in my eyes, e.g. I can't imagine a player not having 100% viewscale.

Wish I could play it on high. Have a new computer but for some reason I gett stutters and freezing when i put textures on high. I dont mind, it still looks pretty on medium.

Edit; everything high except textures counts as medium to me

How do you ppl do anti aliasing with a crappy 8800?? I have a overclocked 5770 vapor-x, which is a hell of a lot more powerful than an 8800. I can only do 1680x1050, max, no anti-aliasing. I get around 30-40fps... With even 2x AA, I won't even get playable framerates!!! Maybe its my processor, crappy Athlon x2 5400. But I do have 4gb of RAM, which should compensate since AA uses more vram (1gb) and ram (4gb) than processor. Is BF2 even capable of multi-threading? If its not then a dual core 2.8ghz should suffice.

My machine is 4GB ram w/ 1 GB GeForce 220 GT, CPU is an AMD Athalon II X4 Quad, and it pretty much eats BF2 for breakfast. Not sure what your issue is.

We're not talking about BF2 here. PR is a lot more demanding than BF2. I've not had a PC yet that didn't struggle on some maps and I've had a core i7 based PC too.

i have a laptop with mobility radeon 4570HD and intel dual cores at 2.1Ghz, 4gb of ram. My settings are mostly on high with lighting on medium , i also have 2X AA. Im getting fps of around 30 on most maps and about 60 on maps such as kashan. I can only acheive this when i run without a paging file, i think this is because it forces PR to use RAM and not the paging file, not 100% sure though.

Medium.

Except View Distance is set to 100% and Terrain is set to High. I believe you suggested those settings to me, although I may have made them up. I don't know if the terrain bit helps to be honest. But whatever.

PR is heavy on the CPU exept for FSAA then it uses alot of gpu of course. your cpu's ghz isn't the only thing that matters if its architecture is old. ddr3 is a good example. you could try OC a tiny bit and i bet you would get better results than a better gpu.

dont diss the 8800gt it was an awsome card.... 2 of those can still play every game out on high with aa @ 720p!
TheOak82 wrote:Could be useful if people also said what CPU/GPU/RAM they have, resolution and the minimum FPS they get.

I've got PII X3 3.8GHz/HD6950@6970/4gb RAM. 1920x1080, min FPS ~30. All high, 4xSSAA.
nice that must look good. you OC'd that pII x3 nicely. do you have ~ 30 frame on fallujah looking into the city?

It's actually an X2 555BE, was hoping to get a quad out of it but could only get 3 cores to work.

SSAA makes a big difference, especially on how vegetation looks, and at 4X I still get the same performance than with MSAA.

30FPS is pretty much as low as it gets in Fallujah or in any of the other "problem" maps and once FPS gets under 40 game starts feeling/looking laggy.

Used to be all on low, but recently upgraded my gpu from a GeForce 8500 to a GTX 460. Now all on high at last!

Mostly high, because when I go full on high it crashes even though I get 108 FPS.

All on Low

Haven't upgraded my computer for years because I didn't play games anymore for a long time. I see with 0.95 the game got heavier so it might be time to upgrade my computer.
