My sincerest sympathies go out to the mapper however, finally. I respect the effort that went into it, but I can't agree it was ever ready for general release. TLC and game adjustments indeed.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

I hope Outlawz is reading this topic.

I didn't mind Wanda Shan. I played it once and thought it was a bust. I was on the Russians and we were nearly capped by the Chinese, but we ended up winning. That shows the balance of the map, even without holding flags. Like OP stated, there aren't many forested maps. There's Qinling, which I also feel faces the same fate as WS. I think Silent Eagle is still around. Haven't played a whole lot to have knowledge of which maps still exists or which one's have been added with the new mod.

Had a nice round today on it, i anoyed the enemy chopper a bit with fake lasing, shot some chineze, walked across the whole map because of few transports
Map is good but the only lack are no trans helicopters, other than that all is fine for me

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
This is a problem with players they are trying to fix imo. Everyone relates their personal experience with a map rather than taking in the experience of their team. Same with weapons. Logistics are there in this map and other maps to FERRY INFANTRY TO THE FLAGS AND SUPPORT THEM. Not for your enjoyment to just drive around and engage other enemy vehicles. Of course they deleted the map. Alot of people don't get PR or teamwork.

Quoted For the Truth! It's also a beatifull map.[R-CON]Adriaan wrote:The one time I got to play Wanda Shan in 0.95 was epic. The battles felt like something from a huge battle in ArmA with it's epic scale and long range firefights. The map was good enough (not worse than other maps) to be in the game and what issues it had were in my opinion not bad enough to be removed. With the addition of AASv4 this map will hopefully be more fun consistently.

This map is one of the most likely to benefit strongly from a player cap increase, especially if transport assets are adjusted appropriately. Tremendous combined-arms aesthetic.

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
This are the reasons I LOVE Wanda Shan and why it should not go away but rather players adapt to it:
*Slower, more meaningful battles.
*The lack of airtransport means you must rely on Mechanized infantry (something that will see much more use if a squad cap of 8 is made for the next update) and good logistics. The terrain is simply too bumpy for actual air insertations (play the 32 version trust me) and the helicopter get relegated to a more efficient and faster logistics role (which is WONDERFUL!).
*Roads actually matter here and therefore mining strategies are actually viable!
*Vehicle Assymetry
*Awesome Terrain
*Building an epic HMG nest to cover an entire valley.
------
Honestly, on TG, this map shows how important logistics strategy and teamwork are!
Just so people don't miss this: Wanda Shan is a conflict about LOGISTICS and FO placement, not charging from the main base into the fray.

The map was removed and isn't going to be coming back. Why people love/hate it is irrelevant as we are never going to see it again.
Let it die.

IMO Outlawz made topic just to provoke people to whine about it removal, he is too smart to delete such a masterpiece of his.

No I didn't get the gag. post #26 this thread
Something fishy going on.
Don't get the dog reference, it'll be here until a 'major release' it seems, don't know about the witch song, is there an ending I don't know?'[R-DEV wrote:Katarn"]lol some people didn't get the gag. Provides for some entertaining forum content though.
