'[RIP wrote:-Chido312;1680109']I think what would draw more people in is a server that ran all maps 24/7. 24/7 muttrah is so boring after like 2 or 3 games. idk what servers run all maps or if there are any. so im just guessing.
Most of the servers try to cover all the maps with their maplist, its just sometimes crashes lead eventually to the play of the same 5 maps till the server crashes again.

Meh, BF3 has all the things I play PR for, which are leet weapons and lots of AKs, big enuff maps to flank that give u freedom and nice tankies. The teamwurk I can get with a clan and the walking, getting bored, doing nothing and the dated gfx I can do w/o.

Wish PR would get some kinda shader/effect similar to FH2.4's and 128 support 4 all in the next patch, till then I cant get mah self to play more than 2 hrs a week. O_o

Isnt there a way to fix the crashes? is it server crashes or game crashes.I will sometimes get both, but thes once in a blue moon.

one way i heard from a friend is to after a round is over exit PR and reload it that way it wont crash while loading the next map.

Many sources of crashes have sorted out already but there are still a lot to take care of. For example, certain maps in a row lead the a crash of the server, so studying and developing the maplist is a high priority task. This is also one of the reasons admins try to avoid to use the !runnnext or !setnext command.

The proposal you made might come in handy to prevent crashes on the client side, I don't know but TBH, it would probably stress the server more having people leave and rejoin. It sounds way more flamboyant then simply restarting the server after a crash.

Has anyone found the best way to run maps? like muttrah, then qwai river, then silent eagle for example?

There are some map orders which always work out but as soon as you put another map in, or change the order, the server starts crashing again. Its a lot of hard work inorder to find a working maplist.

This reduces the crashes but on the other hand also limits the variety of maps you are able to play.

I have an idea but it's up to you all to decide. how about in the beta with the new maps for the next release you have a server run old maps and the new maps in different orders till you find one that is'nt going to crash the server, then give that info to the server owners.

Not a dig at you, but I thought BF3 was meh.

I've not played for a month or so, checked this morning (am GMT) and there was servers running full, seems ok. Which is good, as I will be bringing at least two friends to PR who are interested in learning/playing.

People come, people go; I think there's plenty of life left in the old PR yet! No game out there has the depth and teamplay - certainly not BF3.

Dog you do realize the BF3 beta is already over? There was a massive playercount drop during the beta and yes I do agree that BF3 won't "kill" PR but it will suffer for some time for sure.

Checked PR servers. :)

For sure, a highly anticipated sequel.. But as long as there are a few good servers always running then that's cool with me.

I bet that a beefy patch (not like 0.96 derp) will bump the player count by quite allot too, hope for something noobsif blowing coz its like a year of waiting :D FH2 barely had 1 server up b4 2.4, now its 2.5 like 3 months after the patch.

Yeah when 2.4 was released the player amount went to like 4 full servers

can only help server crashes so much... but the maplist is always changing. insurgency is just a given as lots of people like it ( like me ). so its pretty much mandatory, but the aas maps are always changing.

i would like to see more people using mumble on =]H[= though. im always on it, but if you want to use it, you must also use it when nobody else is. or nobody will bother loading it up. its gotta start somewhere.

Don't understand why people aren't loading Mumble everytime they start up PR. Its not a resource heavy software, nor is it anyhow complicated to use. It also helps to raise the player population, as, when speaking for myself, I only play PR when PRTA is up, or TG full with Mumblers.

Or the 128 ofc :D

I fully agree about mumble. Although I don't go on PRTA often. I'm mostly found on NwA, which although don't enfore mumble, certainly encourage everyone to join; and during peak times mumble is fully used.

For me, mumble adds so much more depth to PR, it's almost insane not to use it. The co-ordination between squads it allows is fantastic, and makes SL'ing much more enjoyable. But even on a squad level it can be very useful, whether comms between different squads, or just to allow the medic to find you quickly, etc.

Where is everyone? All fine. But we'll see over the weekend what happens, eh...?

Personally I don't play anymore due to lack of mumble use and 128 player servers.... Fantastic mod though and I have great memories from it, but i feel this is where the mod could outshine the competition from BF3 by providing far higher populations on servers. More people = more fun (in my eyes)

I find PR:ARMA too clunky and dislike the engine for multiplayer. (Lag/Warp/Desync)

And yes I have BF3 on pre-order... sorry folks

Its just a phase, like hippies and men with long hair.

One day (after they get all their unlocks) they'll come back and realize how stupid it was :-D
