Where did you get the sounds from?
The references are stated in the 1st post.

Thx, I recorded it myself in the field. Although its an M240 from the beginning, with little mixing and volume tweaking.

aurimas wrote:I wonder what if the guns would sound louder while shooting for the firstlook player becouse after shoting full magazine with no ear protection is very loud. It would be much scarier and more fun to shot while some guns are very loud like AK4 it would make you to blink while you shoting in the game :D
They sound louder in 1st person view ofcourse because of the stereo that makes it much more powerful for your ears.

USMC scout sniper wrote:Honestly, I think you should've kept the supposedly "overpowered" echoes and trail offs. I've shot various weapons at the outdoor shooting range the echo is very sharp and clear. But IMO, now the guns sound a bit too underpowered. I liked the first sound sample you made when the guns had a sharp, clear echo to them. Most of the echoes as of now, no joke, sound like my cap gun. Just a BANG followed by a dull, quiet trail off. I think it should be a bang, followed by a sharp echo, trail off, and sonic crack. Kinda like in this video: Arma 2: RWS sound mod test - YouTube. I'm not very good at describing things.I hope this, so to speak, paints a clearer picture in your brain.

Good luck,Anders. So far, you're doing pretty good, keep it up.
I know what you mean there, but since many have complained about the echoes and I also thought youre spending more time in open fields I went for the short echoes. But its so hard to make it fit everyone's taste. Its impossible. There would always be people complaining no matter what you do.
Stand them without earplugs and shoot with an M249 whole clip irl, then they would complain about their ears hurting. Put on their earplugs, and the would complain about the sound beeing muffled.

Well, Im sry guys some sound references are from BFBC2 game and I've asked dice for permission to work with their sounds, but they haven't answered me yet. Some of these sounds can therefore not get into the next update, this is copyrighted material says the PR-DEVS. And I agree with them. Although I would like to know if they went out and buy all their soundarchives for all of their sounds? If they ALSO went out recording their own sounds? I hardly believe so. But still, I understand them.
Although there's nothing that wont let you play with these anyways as a mod.
But again, I haven't stolen someone else work. One sound of mine can contain 10 sounds from everywhere, including my own.
So for now, lets stop asking where the sounds came from. This is MY work for PR mod, not trying to steal or destroy, just trying to make something better that's already good. This is afterall a mod with no profits beeing made, I suppose?

I'll release the mod soon...

Heres some new samples I tried for the M249, M4, M16 and MG3. I think the sound better than the old ones. But again, it's a matter of taste.

Take care guys.

I'm glad you've addressed the issue :)

PR sounds come from various places, some of them recorded by our own audio gurus; PR has maintained an excellent record regarding integrity of our assets.

Congrats, you've made alot of improvements. Best weapon sounds: L85, Snipers, M60, SVD and G36. And I really like the after echoes. Ricochets and other bullet impacts were also excellent. However in my opinion you should still work with Armalites and Kalashnikovs and distant sounds. Those aren't as good as they are in-game now.

Overall I am impressed.

Thx... Well, here's some new AK sounds mixed with some parts from the original PR AK sounds. Is this what you mean?

The new sounds are a lot better, but the distant sounds sound too much like balloons popping.

Yes, I can atleast... Have only tried the NWA servers, and it works on them. Dunno if its a punkbuster thing, but I would think (or hope) that they have that for the NWA servers aswell.
I've got kicked from other servers though. Dunno where the logic is rlly.

And about the balloon-sounds. Its on purpose I made them like popping sounds. Guess you've heard distant gunshots?

Which files/archives do you need to change?
So I can tell you wheather it should work or not on public servers.

EDIT: I assume you are modifing "mods\pr\objects\weapons_client.zip". These files are covered by the PR md5 checks so NwA has most probably turned them off.
Will contact them as its mandatory due to serverlicense and furthermore highly recommended for security reasons.

Oh, nice.. Do u mean that you make this soundmod allowed to all servers? How does that work then? If you update the sounds, Will it still work? Cheers, /Anders

No, thats not what I'm saying.
If we would people allow to modify any PR files there would be possibilities to use this for an advantage or some sort of cheating. For this reason you usually will get kicked of online servers and I'm not the one who could change that.
For further questions I assume you should talk to a red-tag.

i dont like it when you hear the 3rd P gun sound and then with some delay the distant sound, cant you change it to really just one sound at the same time? i hope you understand what im trying to say :D

the gunsounds are a lot better than those on page ~7 (not sure). but they still sound unrealistic to me. I never fired a weapon or heard one, but in your video, there is always just the shooting sound. it seems to me that the round is the only thing that is emitting sound when you fire. But shouldnt the weapon itself also do some sounds, pe when the bolt snaps backwards, especially with the AK series you should hear a loud metallic sound ... or am i wrong?

I've fired RK-62, a kalashnikov-clone, and what I can tell is that the shots are so loud that you can't hear the slide hitting the frame. Or the bolt moving backwards. If that was what you meant.

You meaning that if these kinds of modifications must be accepted by developers and then to be included in official releases?
