Me, I was excited to hear a girls voice once in our squad a couple months back. She was our medic and did ok. The guys were like 'hubba hubba' but overall polite. I think it would be a real kick to have more girls playing. I remember there were a few from time to time. Imagine the level testosterone levels ingame! Ha!
I remember a girl playing TF2 with me once. The entire server was asking to marry her, it was hilarious!! In any case having more girls around would be nice, they are always a motivation

I hardly remember any girls in PR.. The fact that people actually see it as something to comment on or get excited about is really sad in my eyes. (I'm not saying you guys are, i'm commenting on the behaviour of most virgin types that see it as some chance to get female attention ;) ).

Its a breath of fresh air hearing a sweet voice of a girl/women in a testosterone filled game, we had 2 girls 1 women playing regularly on our servers, 1 is in our clan. Although i agree sometime i cringe seeing how people *** with words when they find out the player is girl/women ;)

I agree. It would be a worth goal to not only attract new women players. If I could get my wife interested in this game that would be cool but it's not her thing.

I didn't get a chance to tell that girl thank you for playing because my game crashed. Next time I will for sure. Treat them well and they will come back

Females will not change the community. There is no hope here, for they can be found in sub-ppm levels on the servers.

Also, PR 1.0 will not change the community - at least not at the beginning. Instead, quite the opposite effect will be observed. Advertisement and media hype will attract masses of new players that can not be properly introduced into the game in a short time interval like the release date. Also, testing new assets and features will generate some foolish behaviour. As such, my prognosis would be that games will rather degrade for a certain time. At least that is what I observed with earlier releases in PR when I still was playing (0.5/6-0.85).

Not everyone has to play PR. In fact, many people do not comprehend how to play the game so they have the most fun from it. They need to be taught this - or be kept out.

It is up to the server administrators to enforce a specific gameplay - this is what TG quite well, and what other successful servers do. Also, experienced players need to lead by example - and the community to provide a short, clear and concise guide on how to play the game teamwork style.

What I still lack is a short manual in the installer that give You an emphasis on the three most important pieces of information:

A) The game is about teamwork.
B) The game is about communication.
C) The game is about knowing what to do.. at least have a short look into the MANUAL, even if it is long and has no nude pictures inside it.

My 2 cents.

Dont quite follow what your trying to say there. I don't think females could change the community but they may up the average IQ though. But it would be nice now and then. But for the most part I agree with the rest. The admins mirror the players we have now on the servers.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the sound of a woman's voice to a man's. If I treated her any differently because she was a woman, or tried to chat her up, or basically saw her as anything more than someone with a different chromosome, I feel I would be a bit pathetic as a man really.

I'm not sure you can call any PC game testosterone filled either! More salad dodging virgin territory (of which I unfortunately accept I insult myself by proxy really :P ).

Hmmmmm, having seen first hand how a new player starts with PR it is indeed a tough crowd and game to get in to. I was next to him helping but it was still a rather difficult process. All the files you need to download and install is a first. Why not include the BF2 patches on the website for instance. Or include them with the pr files.

But then playing online. Coop was doable. But when joining a live game its a whole new world. Theres nothing you can do but take a rifleman kit and follow the squad. Thats not something that gives new players something to look out for. Even more so with the removal of the training servers. Dont they exist anymore? That would be an ideal place to learn the assets and weapons. Didnt see any choppers in muttrah coop for instance. And if there where I imagine they cost tickets like normal and respawn like normal

So he tried some cooler stuff and got told not to and leave it all alone. Getting kicked in the process. I get that the server rules are there for a reason :) reserving assets for instance <3 But today it was really eye opening. I got to be honest here and say that a lot of the time he was lonewolfing. But theres is nothing teaching him not to.

Isnt there a way to use those ingame voice-overs from vanilla that you get when you just start out. Ive seen this asked before I think. :) but change them? Letting new players know about possible server rules and squads. Or maybe change the PR installer so that you get text screens in the background with some quick tips and ground rules. Like some of the modern games have.

Currently, after a new player jumped all the hoops of installing the game he gets thrown in the deep :) after seeing those awesome trailers with assets doing cool stuff, all you get to do is grab a rifle and watch a door for a while. I know its PR and not Bf3, but maybe we should try and educate them a bit more about that. And depending on the server the community isnt helping a lot as well ^_^

Then again i just played an excellent game by just sticking to my squad as a medic.
It was good for starters i suppose.
Indeed a little hard to get into but i'm enjoying it so far!

How many people are still playing? How many populated servers are there?

I've not played in ages, a couple of years probably... what is there is get an old vet like me back again?

Might have to pop back when 1.0 is out for old time sake. PR was the only game i played for years.. 0.3 - 0.8

p.s what is the total download size as it stands?

People talking about "treat women in PR nicely"

How about we treat eachother nicely aswell, on the same level as women? Thought about that or is the primal instinct of killing males who go for the same desirable goal kicking in?

Servers need stricter rules. And some version of CO=God rule. See i try to talk and explain people. Even if that means babysitting an individual for a round. In that way, they get into it and get the data needed to proceed learning. The absolute fuckwits that hop into the squad and take a sniper kit, without replying/being on mumble... Those get an instant kick from the squad, and should get a kick from the server.

In a parallel universe where we treat each other as women:
- Heavy Death, what a great shot! Are you free on Friday evening? What about we meet in the calm place and I will show some of my unique piloting technics?

xambone I'm not sure what you are trying say, your written English is a little confusing. Maybe you are being nice or maybe you are being a ****, i can't tell. I hope it is the former.

But yes download size is a consideration, my download speed is very slow. Looks like i have 7-8 GB to download to try PR again. I think i'll wait for 1.0

Tommy, if you've still got a historic version of PR installed, could you not just download the succeeding versions to bring you up to date? Just a thought.

Welcome back BTW.

You might as well bring your PR up to date, will have less to dl when 1.0 comes.

Welcome back, if you're the tommy that i think you are jump on our server when you're ready you might even see an old face around i.e Viglen
