I started out in a squad with no clan in it.
23rd Mountain Brigade. Although levesley was a DM member. I dont think the rest of the squad was.
I'd say give the publics the first priority, to join squads. And then allow clans to join later, when you cant find the manpower.

How was the PRT event organized? What was the work that went into it?

Two teams with hiearchy of squads with squadleaders, up to platoonleaders and commander with his staff. If you signup to one of the teams you were required to participate to weekly trainings and planning, with a battle every two weeks. While Grunts might not have lot to do, Officers are doing battleplans for the battles and coming up with training plans so those members who are not that skilled would catch up with veteran players. PRT was build around idea of playing the game not to have fun, but to win no matter what. Serious business TM. Campaign was a series of battles, usually ~10 each Campaign.

That is something quite hard to explain. Depends on the point of view and position/rank in the tournament.
Management, Admins, T-CONs, Commanders, Staff Officers, Platoon Leaders, Squad Leaders, NCOs or Grunts. The workload is different for each one of those and it is also dependent on the motivation and dedication of the person taking such position.
The organization of a tournament such as the PRT is divided into Pre-Campaign and During the Campaign. That work is also divided into tournament/campaign structure/rules work and each team's structure and organization.
To put it simple, quite a lot of work is put into organizing and maintaining a PRT but what is expected of each individual depends on how many responsibilities he is willing to take.
A grunt's responsibility is to be active on both trainings and battles as much as possible and follow the instructions/orders to be able to improve his own skill but also the over-all teamwork within his squad. Any position above that, requires even more work and dedication.
Hope that answers your question.

I would add that the concept was to have fun by reaching the best effectiveness levels and putting them into practice in order to get multiple wins. And "winning no matter what" is a way to put how much effort went into the team's preparation before each battle. I must however point out that the "no matter what" is always subject to fair-play above all else.

Fun like assaulting main base and killing in the no go zone? Ok Ill stop there.
I had fun like I've never had before in any other game. It was intense, sometimes I felt sick of driving ammo around the map back and forth ( yeah I was in defensive infantry/logistics/mortar squad ) but nevertheless I'm pretty sure I had fun, and great time to remember.
I even though of it, well this game should of been made to play like this in the first place.
Sure if your team is failing, not because everyone sucks, but because of lack of dedication and preparation and proper understanding of tactics and planning, then it might get frustrating.
Fair play above all I agree.

You probably dont know, but back when the game still had the Spec Ops kit it was actually allowed for people with said kit to attack the enemy base and blow assets up in the base. They were only allowed to use the silenced pistol and C4/SLAMs though, but it was still allowed.
Oh... the good ol' days.

That was fun indeed but it had a strict set of rules for it and you wouldn't be able to destroy that many assets as resupplies were quite different back then.
Besides the fact that it would take you a long time to get there so its not comparable to a CAS striking the main base on round start.

People are sharing stories! Brilliant!
I started out in C9 with only my buddy Plankton. Ended up being the second worst (worst was/is Brainlaag, Don can testify to that) officer in CATA and then ruining PRTA and 3dAC. Loads of good times were had though.

So, what exactly are the obstacles that we face at the moment?
What do we need to get this thing going again?
I believe we must come up with a good/fair admin team first. Then convince the DEVs for the relaunch?
Does anyone have other ideas?

Do you want to be an admin? Cause 99.9% of players don't want to, not just because of the work and responsibilities involved but also because they won't be able to play in the PRT.
So how do you want to have a good admin team if no-one wants to do it? That was one of the main reasons why the PRT was shut down in the first place.
This poll shows how many players would like to have the PRT back as they're interested in playing in it. I personally would be interested in seeing who from this bunch is interested in actually doing the work needed for the PRT to be back.
So I would say that is one of the obstacles, besides the Dev's giving permission and supporting it.

Need someone with iron will to get this going and DEV's supporting this. And couple other (really dedicated) who would be admins etc.

Interesting, coming from a guy who voted: "I am NOT interested in/ do NOT think there should be a new official PR tournament started."
How does that work?
