Sounds like that was my mvote.matty1053 wrote:Whats with the horrible map votes?
Today I decide to join, for once to sit back and R.E.L.A.X.
And the votes were horrible! People were suggesting other maps and then the admins put the worst type of maps... Gaza, Op Marlin, *I can't remember last one.*
Gaza won, but no one suggested all 3 maps...
Wouldn't mind a more variety of maps, instead of having Gaza in everyvote.
Your favorite maps won't always be on the mvote list. We like to be realistic with the map selections.; no point in running a map as large as kashan when the population fluctuates around 40/50. It gets long and tedious. Additionally, not everyone enjoys doing big asset maps. Some prefer smaller scale maps like Gaza for a quick ground pounding. We try to balance it out, which I think I did well with that mapvote. Furthermore, maps that didn't win arent usually put in the next mvote, unless it almost won in high numbers, we may reconsider it, but its not something that's repetitive, as we value variety.
edit: the mvotes that night. not sure where the repetitive maps you claim are at?

I played on your guys's server mainly last night... And I think 2 hours or so on HOG. (They had a mvote of Gaza as well)DC_K wrote:Sounds like that was my mvote.

And I left about 30min in on the Gaza map.... I had to leave, so I wasn't there for the other vote.
And I don't mind your votes, at least YOU don't revote 2 maps that were apperently "close". But when you are on, a full server or like 80p+... Can you put Qwai a bit in? That seems like a first time in a long time I have seen the vote witih Qwai in it.

I just leave if Muttrah is on.
On the plus side Atoli is awesome enough to not put it in map votes when I'm playing.

if DC did a map vote with muttrah in it then there is no doubt in my mind he is being fair with map votes.

i have seen it happen but if you dont want to take my word for it then if we can agree that on certain maps a particular faction has an advantage then 1 team votes for and keeps getting the advantage faction on these certain maps....then what i said is possible right?[R-CON]Wicca wrote:Conspiracy theories in PR. I think...
even if it was 2 insurgency maps in a row. for example kolzelsk in being played with the tunnel flag layout. advantage militia. now lets say insurgency won and karbala wins and blufor has advantage and then map vote again and koregal wins advantage opfor.....same team has the advantage all 3 rounds....and if your an admin and you cant spot that then something is wrong.
disclaimer: i am not saying it's impossible to win against the advantaged faction...what i am saying is that some maps and layouts have an advantage and it is possible for a particular team to vote themselves the advantage every time.
edit: perhaps to remedy this if host chooses to...add a rule to where if lower than 50% of server votes then admin can choose to set next in accordance with the vote results, choose at random next map or just leave the rotation as is.

Isn't usually most of the time, less then 50% of the server votes? But I like that Idea...Anderson29 wrote:

Usually on maps people cry about playing, such as Fools Road or something, the votes will be higher.... since they want to get off of that map. Or admins kick for not voting!

Re: Free Candy Van [PRTA] (North America)
For a while we had the admins run their own votes because whenever the general population spoke and have suggestions they were commonly played maps, we figured letting the admin be creative might improve the diversity of map selection and it did. We don't have any hard policies for map votes and hopefully we never will.
I will be honest (not a lot of SA's have the gut to say this) I will occasionally throw a map in I really want but I don't corrupt my votes.

I'm not sure if your plan will work.. but admins aren't supposed to set maps that give the same team the advantage like that.. Maybe once in a row, if the vote went that way, but never more than that..Anderson29 wrote: <snip>

Re: Free Candy Van [PRTA] (North America)
I played Black Gold CnC yesterday and it was goddamn awful.
There was a guy called Sgt.Cook teamkilling dozens of people and for some reason the admins were not able kick him (the !tb command was not working even if they were writing his full nickname).
The map bugged and the Chinese were not able to spawn on their base after a while, plus some annoying kids were complaining that CnC is boring all the time in global chat calling the admins to run next. With all this ****, admins ended running next.
The next map was even worse, it was Kokan and a guy with a LAV-III started roadkilling people on the main base with it, he had also blown the Chinooks up.
The server started to depopulate and people went to EU PRTA... I just closed PR.
9:00 to 12:00 PRT is the WORSE time for playing PR, there are so many retarded kids. It's not my first awful experience on this period of the day playing this game. I can't even blame the admins, there are so many fucktard kids that a server would need at least 10 admins babysitting people to run a game properly.
It's my last time playing on this time of day, I had enough (morning here in Brazil).

9;00-1200 seems idd the shittiest time, mainly because we lack admins from that timezone, also this seems to be the time with the fewest players(80/150)
We could need some admins at that time and anyone is welcome to apply on PRTA.

NOT TRUE. Tunnel isn't an "advantage". With smoke and hand grenades the militia is trapped to death in their narrow tunnel...Anderson29 wrote: for example kolzelsk in being played with the tunnel flag layout. advantage militia.
LOL ANOTHER map you call "unbalanced" ??? Why would you even call this unbalanced ???Anderson29 wrote:now lets say insurgency won and karbala wins and blufor has advantage

*sigh* in the disclaimer i say "it's not impossible to win against the advantaged faction"Daniel wrote:NOT TRUE. Tunnel isn't an "advantage". With smoke and hand grenades the militia is trapped to death in their narrow tunnel...
i have personally been on the Russian side and won with tunnels in play but to say that having the tunnels in play vs a layout without tunnels in play and the 2 layouts being equally challenging to the Russians would be the wrong assessment in my opinion and i think a lot of others would agree.
i call it unbalance because i believe it to be so. but again....a big part of it is the randomness of cache locations...same goes for basra and i also believe karbala could be won without the kiowa....perhaps a remedy without complete removal to this could be longer reloading time or longer respawn time. but it depends on the pilots flying...Daniel wrote:LOL ANOTHER map you call "unbalanced" ??? Why would you even call this unbalanced ???
while i believe some maps are unbalanced (aas&ins) from the start of the round.... however slight.. i do think the balance varies in it's severity and a large portion of the unbalance is dependent upon random variables (flag, cache, players, assets, etc)
"saying" all maps are perfectly balanced is...i dont want to say unacceptable because i think a person is entitled to their opinion...but i would say that it is odd and im being as nice as possible here.Daniel wrote:And claiming THAT is UNACCEPTABLE already.
and debating this any further would be a waste of time..its off topic and these are just my opinions...take them however you want. i feel im being pretty fair and just offering ways to help improve the server's quality for everyone's benefit through my opinions and experiences. this is what it is here for right....and im doing my part to make people aware of an experience i had a long time ago maybe on a different server....
on topic...while im here....i played a lot yesterday had a blast till the kashan ddos/crash or whatever but when trying to seed a server i think i would avoid asset heavy maps.
overall though.. big thumbs up. cya ingame

Not shocked. CnC isn't a mode made for public matches. You have people that don't know the mode and are too lazy to learn it.Death! wrote: The map bugged and the Chinese were not able to spawn on their base after a while, plus some annoying kids were complaining that CnC is boring all the time in global chat calling the admins to run next. Re: Free Candy Van [PRTA] (North America)
I think the problem with maps like Karbala and Kokan isn't that they are necessarily unbalanced, but they can be extremely frustrating for OPFOR. Sure you can win when you have the infrastructure, i.e. mortars and a functioning network of hideouts. But you will spend more time getting back to the cache than actually defending, because you can't really do anything but hide and pray against the choppers plus BLUFOR has the advantage in open terrain. The chances of winning are pretty even, but for one side the experience tends to be frustrating. That's why I always run Kokan ALT, without the Kiowas, and tend to favour INS maps with the militia faction.

I'd like to express my thanks to the admins over the last week. I saw a lot of underplayed maps being put up in votes, and despite the crying by the regular suspects, some great games were had! It was one of my best weeks of PR in ages, simply due to not playing the same old tired 5-10 maps.

This probably due to the fact that we have added quite a few new admins over the last week or so. Glad you're enjoying it![R-CON]Psyrus wrote:I'd like to express my thanks to the admins over the last week. Re: Free Candy Van [PRTA] (North America)
I find that when prime-time hits for the West-Coast/Korea/Australia players, the mapvotes suddenly gravitate to 4km maps with sparse cover. Basically all the mapvotes become like this:
Khamisiyah/Saaremaa/Black Gold
Arctic Lion/Shikotanjima/Kashan
Khamisiyah/Wanda Shan/Shijia Valley
...
On the above maps, it's kinda boring to play as the infantry. These maps only appeal to the heavy asset players.
I think the INF players (myself included) would appreciate some more variation in the mapvote. Something like this:
Black Gold (4km)/Operation Marlin (2km)/Assault on Mestia (1km)
Khamisiyah (4km)/Qwai River (2km)/Lashkar Valley INS (2km)
Can someone talk to the admins for that timezone about this?
