I re-skinned all the weapons to look like bunnyrabbits, and you have too much heart to point a bunnyrabbit at me.

Seriously, this is getting too off-topic now, let's drop it.

Off-topic: I hate rabbit's, my sister has one. I would butcher it and cook it if I had to.

I would like to see at least a 1000 meter view distance on all PR maps, if not 1500+ meters.

Well Eddie, you'd be eating a sniper rifle.. and I would have the time you were cooking it, to get away from your line of sight. I win!
haha.. yeah anyway...

Hes right.
Already, the higher end users have an advantage.
For example, i notice people shooting at me with an AR and i whip around with my AR, look through the sights and just see tracers comming from a spot on the hill, but i cant see him.

Another would be That higher end users benefit from the (mostly(very accurate sights on mounted 50cal weapons. For low end users, it can completely maim you as instead of sights, you have a black triange that covers the target completely. Yes, you can press C to do so but that just gives them time to zero in on your little eager face and most people dont know about the C button.

We have to keep in mind we are cattering for a full audience of users, not an elitest approach of "serves you right for having a **** computer".
In doing so, we are turning away 1/3 of our compliant(by that i mean they play the game properly, Realisticly) Players and community members.

How would the bullet act if you fired on that distance? If PR is said to bring the realsim to the game the bullet shuold drop several feet (depending on the rifle/ammo). A 7.62 or 5.56 would never be able to reach the target, a .50 cal perhaps (In the swedish army they use the .50 up to 1300m)

Is there a winddrift factor i PR? I mean that´s the beauty of snipers; their ability to calculate winddrift, distance and so on..

I think the view distance should be customizable per computer specs. If your machine can handle it, by all means crank it up. It's like anything else in life, you have to decide how much the game is worth to you. If you really enjoy it and want as much as possible, you'll drop the extra dough to get a high end machine. If you're just a casual user, chances are your money is better spend elsewhere.

But that doesn't mean others should sacrifice their gameplay b/c you don't want to spend money to upgrade.

Some people pay thousands for golf clubs, or snowboards, hockey equipment, or mountain bikes. Surely you wouldn't complain at the golf course, snow hill, or hockey rink b/c others decided they WANT to spend money one equipment. To them it's more than a hobby, and yes, their equipment is better than yours. Deal with it, it's called "REAL WORLD".

I'll remember this thread the next time someone gets ticked over a nofog hack.

Hey, they paid for it. It's all good.

Please, we are talking about a game here, which means everything has to be the same for everyone, giving no advantages to anyone.
Looking at the minimum specs needed to play this game means limiting the viewdistance for everyone so everyone can have a fair game. Not really rocketscience now is it.
Seriously what do you think these low end pc users will do if they implemented your plan, seeing how all the high end users, can pick them off before they even saw the high end user. They would stop playing all together and move to a game where skill=skill and not good pc > skill. And how is it in your eyes that limiting the viewdistance for highend users (just like everyone else) isn't fair exactely? You still see as much as everyone else, unlike the other way around.
Actually right now the low-end computers have the advantage > the high end computers because if I believe its terrain? Is set to low then grass doesnt render at more then like 15M and if you have it on high its like 50M?

Doesnt matter when at range(when it stops rendering), because i simply cant see people as far as you :)

Im talking like a low spec person when i recently descovered i 'could' run most maps fine on mid-low. I have noticed i can see people a little further away and can see though 50cal sights. Maybe have to get some more RAM some time...keep saying that but never do :(

causticbeat wrote:Id gladly set my textures and terrain down a notch to have some nice view distances, but when youre saying "well the low end users can turn their view distance down in their graphical settings" its crossing the line between aesthetics and functionality. You are putting users with a higher end PC at a clear advantage, and that is simply not fair. And, to put it bluntly, to say "well maybe they should just upgrade" is just greedy and selfish. Not everyone can afford to put as much money in to our computer as you can.

A more expensive computer should give you nicer shadows and sharper textures, not the ability to see me before I can see you.

Also, Why would you want such a high viewdistance? Bf2 maps are so small that it looks bad. Honestly, basrah looks like shit with the viewdistances posted.

For Al Basrah looking shitty on high view distance I didnt mean for 5000 lol I mean like 1000-1350.

For the clear advantage for high end users, right now low-end users have the advantage. If I am in a grass field the low-end will be able to see me first so if you complain about view distance you have to complain about that =D NEVER once have I complained about low-end computer's seeing me first. Even now I am not complaining I am merely stating that they do indeed have a bigger advantage.

Do I also need to bring up lighting? I find a nice well shadowed hiding spot, you are going to be able to see me PERFECTLY.

That sucks, I mean, some people play with gamma so high it looks like they're looking into sunshine at midnight.
