Im was gladyou restarted, becasue there is nothing worse than a realistic based map that isnt realitic, todays pics are looking good, perhaps the target building could be the palce from warlord? (a little big, but is more suitable than a HOP)

Mec hangar can be found in( in the resource tree):

objects>staticobjects>military>buildings>mi_hangar_mec

the boxy hangar right?

like the base so far; better than when you started.

Warlord palace is in the xpack folder, so it cant be accessible for people who didnt buy the expantion pack.

If i put the Warlord Palace in the map, people who dont own the expansion will still be able to use it though, right? I own Special Forces... not the newer ones (euro forces and armored fury)
If so, I'll extract the special forces objects zips into the objects folder for pr_edit as well.

Still can't seem to get roads working... I have a template, i chose textures, put in splines.... and cant get anywhere... I'll keep reading up on it...

One thing I was thinking of putting in... like the bakara market, I have a lot of booth type things around... I was thinking about putting some ak's on the tops, leaving them up for grabs. Hows that sound? I just thought it would be nice for someone who used their rpg or whatnot to pick up a new kit off a booth... sounds cool in my head... but i wonder how it will come out in the end... thoughts?

sounds fun and realistic, but don't leave RPGs lying around, or it'll turn into a n00b t00b map

Ha most def. Do you know off hand if you can actually pick up the AK model if I place it? Im assuming its the same concept as the AA, Dragunov, and PKM at the insurgent base in alBasrah...

Pics of the hangers coming soon,

Do I update too often? let me know...

It should be under object spawn where all the vehicles are IIRC.

Well, here's the last two pics for tonight...er... morning... (3:43AM...where'd the night go!?) Made all these while watching Top Gun... for inspiration and fun, I guess...

First up is right hand side hanger, two AH-6's in for maintenance and a Black Hawk being rolled out/in
Image

Next we have the bunker and defenses at the entrance to the city (with shot up truck that didn't stop :p ). I would imagine that the US had checkpoints so that the Militia couldn't just drive over to the airbase... I hope I'm not assuming too much. This entrance will go straight to the airport... well, not straight there, but it will be the path the humvees should want to take. I might need to widen it at the bunker, but it looks like humvees can get through. Olympic Hotel can be seen in the background.
Image

Goodnight/morning all. Maybe I'll get some done tomorrow... if I don't sleep through it!

ps Is it possible in BF2 to have music playing from a set area in a set radius? Like, from the loudspeakers at the US airport? I know BF Vietnam made good use of that, but I dont know about BF2...

There are no models in PR that resemble the buildings from Mog. I think you can still do a good job of making it resemble the set up pretty good. Don't forget the destructible buildings from Helmund don't look too much different from the slum structures. They may be a good fit. Think of the slum area of Al Basrah.

can we have littlebirds that can't be flown in the hangar? like treat them like statics?

And i was blowing up some buildings with my blackhawk loaded with C4 once, and i crashed in a position like 6-4. is it possible for buildings to be partly destroyed, and stick a black hawk in there?

I was actually trying to figure out how to make the blackhawk and 2 little birds in the hanger non-enterable... I figured the little birds people might not even try for (put enough around them, you know?) but that blackhawk...yeah... I dont want that to be used...

I'll work on getting the blackhawk in a good crash position... right now, the only crash site I have has an already destroyed stone building and the blackhawk is just at the edge... its all Ive come up with so far.

I dont need it to really BE black hawk down, but like you guys said, the set up/level layout is what im going for... really, its gonna be more like an... iraq black hawk down...due to the buildings and statics... but yeah... concept... BHD in spirit, and as real layoutwise as i can make it...

Maybe you can make it like how it's only US enterable, but make it so it's only neutral enterable, so instead of team one or two, it's team zero, like how neutral flags are labeled? Tell me if that didn't make any sense

hmm. that makes sense.. the problem I am having now is that once i quit the editor and return to the map, thethree choppers are gone... i placed them as statics.. the spawning choppers have always shown up...

also, im working on making the control points larger for PR, and not having a flag visible... but im not sure how to make flags not show up... i just want to show it on the map.. thats it... ill look into all this, and ill keep fiddling around.. just like i have been!

team 0 is neutral, which mean ANYONE can enter it.
I put a plane in my map and surrounded it by stairs. you could do something like that if its supposedly non enterable

and about the roads... you should select a template, make lots of splines and connect it. Dont worry if it seeps into the ground... just press create all final roads

yeah, a work around for it of mine was to place enough **** around it to make it pretty obvious that it isnt meant to be entered, and if someone DOEs enter it, they will probably blow up trying to get it out of the hanger... eggman said in his PR map requirements to look at the Mapper Audit Tutorial to see how to make flags invisible... but i dont know where/what the heck that is...

You cant really make flags invisible... all you do is remove the flagple templete, disable the hoist flag, and put the flag under ground
