I'm currently working on a USMC v. Insurgent map that focuses on the successes and failures of Al Basrah. It is a completely different map, though, and will have very different gameplay.

My GF tells me all the time I have ADD( attention deficit disorder ) and yet I can wait 60 seconds to respawn ( the max time ).
Shorter spawn times breed and feed run-n-gun tactics.
I support longer spawn times.

I bet you 1$ that if I put up Helix as a permanent death server or respawn 15 minutes - hell would break loose and complaints on every channel and forum.

I don't think PR is ready for a 15 minute spawn time server. Too many vanilla tactics available

err that would IMO be reduced by longer spawns. and the people who use these tactics will feck off back to nilla too. (15mins is too long.. 5 mins .. now that sounds good. I'd like to see it start at 1min.. and very quickly rise to 5 mins, due to deaths etc.)

Personally i like the spawn times as they are and i would hate to see spawn times of over 1,5 minutes.
Why for one because there are to many ways you can die without it being you're fault.
Because it would be way to easy to take a flag with long spawn times. And with the ASSv2if you destroy the enemy rally it whill still take 2 to 3 minutes before they are back at the frontline.
My vote: Please leave the spawntimes as they are.
(p.s. if you call me a vanilla noob because of the post i whill smack your booty

I dont play PR to be in constant action.. i play DesertConflict or EOD2 if i wanna run and gun. I want to have time to setup defences etc.. if my squad kills the defending sqaud at a flag.. i dont want them back for some time.. this having a rally point around the corner.. we'll be back in 45 seconds is just sad IMO. Not what i'd like to see in PR.
(the noob bit was obviously a joke

)

Well, what about teamkillers?
I'd hate to have my SL asking me to bring the sniper, only to have a noob TKing me for it, then I'd had to wait 2 minutes to spawn back on SL or base to request another kit...

This would lead to camping and increased engagement limits since everyone would be too scared to get into CQB, this would also annoy the people who are killed by prone spamming uber l337 spack ops players.
Dont like it.

I really think the Devs need to strike a very carefull balance here with respect to spawn times.
We have to work with a maximum of 32 players on a team so the spawn times are there to help overcome the small amount of players per side. Maps are getting bigger and hence IRL would require more people on the ground. If we start moving into several minute spawn timers we could simply take the mod to the point of being not fun. Sure you would loose allot of the vanilla-esq players base, good. But you will also loose some guys that are not the most hardcore but still decent to play with and know how to play PR. The amount of servers will drop, you will have a hard time finding a server with enough players unless you take the time to organize a certain day/time with your clan etc. Sure when everything lines up and you have a great group of guys all working together the game will be gold but that will be rare. I have had some really good games playing with guys I don't know who all just want to play. I feel that you will loose the ability to jump on a PR server with a few hours to play at random. If we start loosing the player base because you can rarely find enough people willing to play I fear the mod will die off due to lack of players.
The original EOD mod for BF1942 was a good mod. Once BF Vietnam came out allot of the players jumped ship for the new game. I bought the game but quickly put it in the closet and went back to EOD. EOD was better then EA's kick at it but the damage was done, people dropped the mod and it was very rare to get a good game due to low numbers.
I enjoy PR becuase its realistic but I think certain concessions need to be taken by the Devs to keep it enjoyable. If the spawn timers increase a bit, say up to a 1-2 min or so that could be acceptable. If you start pushing 5 min or more I feel that the game will suffer from this. Maybe I'm way off in my analysis and Im the minority but I think we need to be carefull not to cripple the mod. PR could be turned into a perfect game but if you only have a 100 players around the world you will never get a chance to play it

Lets not forget that we have only 32max number teams . For me , sl\rp spawns simbolise an attack of much bigger unit then just a squad . Imagine that you wasted a full squad but they called for support ( before they were all dead ) on platoon level and another squad came to clear the area..
p/s Imo , if spawn time will be more then 2 minutes a lot of people will move back to PoE2 and other more player-friendly mods . Lets not forget the golden rule : gameplay ( it is still a game , yeah ) > reality
