The official name for the A10 is Thunderbolt II, named after the P-47D Thunderbolt, one of the most successful CAS aircraft of WWII (it too was a flying tank).
Pilots quickly named the A-10 the Warhog because it just looks nasty and ugly.
It's primary role is anti-tank, making it a "tank buster."

Rocket Firing Typhoon!
Or, with a less national pride clouded response, Il-2.

You forgot the Stuka, all good planes.
I also should not have said CAS, as that was not very common in WWII, it was more of interdiction aircraft.

IMO your opinion is invalid.

IMO I suggest we tie you ontop of a T-90, park it somewhere in the dessert, then let some A-10s attack you. Ofcourse, you would by tied down face downwards,so they could really kick your a$$.

A10 has GAU-8, SU-25 has better engines + airframe?

another another question...
in project reality, is the GAUS-8 on the a-10 the same as the ones on a real a-10???
cause i heard that one bullet from the GAUS-8 can take out a tank if its lucky....and i know for damn sure u cant do that in PR

While true, you're not shooting at frontal armor, you're hitting the roof which is much thinner.
As for # of hits, I've been told that IRL 3 rounds is considered a lethal hit every time.

so can 3 shots disable a tank in PR?

No, but you gotta remember, in RL they're shooting from much farther away, and its harder to get three shots on top of the turret than in game.

I don't know exactly how many rounds to kill a PRM tank, but its not much. I'm very good with the A-10 and a single well aimed burst will smoke just about anything at any angle.
IRL the GAU-8 shoots 3900rpm, which is exactly 3000rpm faster than is possible with the game engine, so RL compairisons are not possible. To compensate it
should be a 1 round kill everytime.
BTW, here's a great pic showing exactly how big the gun is

ermm....no , max rof ingame is 1800

It's 900, I'm pretty sure.
1800 sounds a bit high for the BF2 engine, you never know though.

The max rof for the bf2 engine is infact 900 rpm.
