Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
small update, proportions adjusted, sides and benches added (should it be open or closed back) and axels added to wheels (still needs some small parts though)

current poly count 5945 and i'm just missing the very last part of the undercarriage and the tail lights and small adjustment in that area along with a very low poly 3d cabin for 3rd person view. and then to the optimization.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
looking good.
A few things though.. The wheels look a bit thin judging by the reference photos. Generally the wheels dont look much like the ones on the picture.
Seems you hav spend a lot of time on the bottom of the vehicle. Its good practice but a lot of polys went into it compared to how little it will ever be seen. Especially the two middle wheels.
A little pointer when posting wireframes.. its hard to see whats going on on these wireframes with no "meat" on the vehicle
a simple screengrap of the viewport is much more helpful for giving feedback (print screen).
But like I said.. Its looking pretty good.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
thx for the feedback, probably going to cut down even more on the wheels but some of it is pretty open and not easy to cut down on without hurting the model. but model is not done either so it's pretty easy to correct.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
I'd make some new wheels
dont be afraid to put in a bit more polys on them.. They are pretty flat and look very little like the references.
Don't be afraid to give them a little form like so (only looking like the ones on the first page of this thread):

The wheels are a big part of such a truck and shouldnt stand out by being too low poly
trust me, if you make the wheels a bit more beefy and 3d (not a cylinder like now) the truck will look much much better.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
okay small update, I tried to make the wheels a bit more full (not by much though). i also added rear lights and towing hooks, final parts of suspension system (needs a bit of a adjustment), rear hatch (small adjustments too) and a very basic 3rd person cabin.

when they have been adjusted tonnie has agreed to help me optimize it and then uv it afterwards. and if i am correct spush has said that he would texture it.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
at the moment the model is at 6667 polygons, the wheels though i'm not going to make less detailed, if i do that they will look very chunky (just look at the old truck) not that this would necessarily be bad, but they got 2 chamfers and the cylinder in the middle so basicly they are pretty simple and don't take that many polygons (but then again there is 8 of them so that increases the load quite a bit) but anyway the optimization should be able to get it below 6400 i believe but this is quite optimistic so it won't necessarily hit it. also it still needs some very minor adjustments. the germans are going to make it for themselves first and before that is done it doesn't seem like the devs are interested (at least not Rhino, but he's also very busy at the moment).

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
I think you missunderstood me
try looking at the outline of the tyre from the reference pictures and then your model:

See what I mean? they also look really flat, where the real tyres are pretty beefy and look like they are pretty heavy duty. These looks like you could tip them over without using much force.
Dont get me wrong here.. Its not like I'm trying to bust your work, I'm only trying to make it look better
Like I said before, the wheels are a pretty big part of the overall model and would thus help its overall look a great deal.
You havent held back that many places with the polygons, so just let it rip here and we'll take it from there.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
yeah i get what you mean, but i have also found another tire type that they use for the vehicles, so that i both save polygons but i'm also having official tire types. and a bit wider i guess that you want them right, makes sense they do look a bit skinny and i'll show you the other ref picture later for this tire type.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
here it is
http://lh6.ggpht.com/cuteftpster/R4DQnX ... MTT_A3.jpg
needs a small update on the tires so that they look a bit different (3 small half circles on the tires) and then the tires need to be widened a bit, but except from that it should be fine

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
okay the much anticipated update is finally here
hehe.
steering wheel added to the cabin (adjustable so far since i don't know how far a soldier model can reach hehe)

and the new wheels have been modeled. they were based of of tofurkeymeister's wheels for his truck and then were modified heavily and added to save polycount and add detail.

hope you like the update motherdear out.

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
That last shot is about the most bling thing Ive ever seen in grey I think
Will this have special suspension at all, its apparently superior to a 5 ton truck for mobility with 8x8 all wheel drive but could we expect it to go up jabals west beach mountain for example or I guess it would not be on a smaller map anyway

Re: [Vehicle] hemmt [WIP]
The reference pics show the body of the vehicle raised up from the tires quite a bit. It looks like your rig needs a lift kit
