It is considered a pistol.. (automatic-pistol) because its compact and it fires a pistol round which is a 9x18 Makarov

darkNight wrote:Right! The unlock system would be awesome to add some more weapons. Fore example I believe that the insurgents got quite more different weapons (of course older ones from the black market) which you could choose ingame. Maybe even some submachineguns or something like that for closer combat (actually don't really know what small arms they're using). Would be awesome, that's sure. Always running around with AK's is a bit boring. This could be also included for some other factions (milita) which don't really have an official primary weapon if you know what I mean (they can choose/buy everything affordable on the black market IRL, and there aren't just AK's!).
i agree apart from the unlock bit, why use an AK if you could use G3s? if it was unlockable we would eventually have entire squads of insurgents with G3s and negating realism even more.
instead such weapons should be located at weapons caches in limited numbers like the PKM and RPG, would add variety without it completely dominating

because all 7.62mm NATO rifles are hardly controlable in autofire mode ?
but i still love the G3

Jonny wrote:Why would you want a HK33 when you could have the stopping power of a G3?
- The HK33 is lighter (0.6 kg lighter according to HKPro)
- The HK33 has far less recoil than the G3A3
- The HK33 has a higher RoF (750 vs 600)
- => it is probably a better CQC weapon
- You don't need to lead as much with the HK33
- You don't need to account for bullet drop as much with the HK33
- You can carry far more ammo for a HK33 than the G3A3
MEC should use H&K weaponry. They obviously have a major deal with H&K and probably build H&K weapons under license (all hypothetical of course). That means AK's are an unlikely contender.

Jonny wrote:Nope, the insurgents would only get the cheap iron sights G3, while the MEC would get the scoped variant and the AK for closer engagements.
Although I do like the idea of the scoped one being available from the caches in limited numbers. Its better than the SVD.
nonono im talking about the non-scoped G3 being limited, the scoped G3 shouldnt be with the insurgents at all.
insurgents should have variety but always be at a serious disadvantage in any direct confrontation, non limited G3s scoped or not would be bad for that.
non scoped limited G3s scattered around insurgent weapons caches FTW.

agree, since the future sniper rifle is also form european origin and the DMR will be a HK weapon (G3SG1)
the only question is, will they keep the MR-444 Pistol, or replace it also with a german moddel (please a Walter PP)

I agree, kick the Baghira but use a H&K pistol (perhaps one of these:
List of Heckler & Koch products - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Even better, take the German's P8 and convert it to a USP (by changing the trigger group and the engravings).

Well if we are assuming that turkey is also part of the MEC, then it's safe to say they are pretty HK savvy. :
Small Arms:
Heckler & Koch HK416
HK MP5
HK 33
HK G3A7
MG3
HK 69A1
M203
FN MAG
FN MINIMI
M4/M16
Cheytec M200
Sako TRG-42
Gepard Anti material rifle
SVD dragunov
AKM

What about that G3 variant that uses the 7.62x39? We could have them using Western weapons, but they would still be using the AK-47/AKM ammunition.

Id say give them Sigs, its a different gun, but its also a good one, not one that will handicap the MEC

i could live with using the HK33, and just using the g3 skin. less recoil is win, and even then the 5.56 roung in PR is pretty powerful.

@ Expendable Grunt: that thing is called HK32, it is horribly ugly (since it is a G3 with AK mag) and was only a prototype, but had never been produced. Most weapons in that style where converted by us 3rd party companys.
=> not realistic that any army uses it, while the HK33 is/was used by several armys

What about export versions of the G36 family? We could even use that civilian version as a Marksman kit, with a proper scope.

Bah, I'd say Sigs, its "balanced" but it's also a rifle on the line of the M16 so you wouldn't need a different scoped rifle for riflemen, and it has it's own DM style rifle

Ah ok didn't know that. Well, I'll be for keeping the G3 as is.

I am pretty sure the G3 is here to stay, no matter how many times people will complain.
