'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino;673185']very nice
Just a quick tip, you can press "q" when viewing a demo to get rid of the courser and you can also do the command "renderer.drawhud 0" to get rid of the HUD and if you run the demo in the debugger you can also do "renderer.drawnametags 0" to get rid of player names
As for the AAV, how come you could fire 4 missiles? did you edit the code? I thought it only has 2 pods?
anyways ye, the AA back blast was cool, but a little too big.
AA missiles looked good, maybe lased for a little too long and maybe 2 dence.
hydra missiles where maybe a little too black? thou I'm probaly just use to the white ones.
apart from that I think it was all good, keep on going like this and you may make [R-CON]
The linebacker has always 1 loaded and 1 reload of 4 missiles.
I didn´t know about q. I didn´t turn the hud off, well, because I was just making a quick video.

I´ll try the nametag one too next time.
As for the hydras, yeah, Im trying to get a short trail more or less grey/light brown but it is proving dificult.
I am still learning it, as you said it is basically all trial and error. At the moment I have only modified/substituted effects. Not sure how to create one from scratch.

??:

Also it would be cool to have a little back blast effect from the hydras. Didnt really see them there.

I got to tell you that this work is killer great! You should work for EAs effects department! LOL! They would have much better effects for their BF games then the **** their effects devs have come up with.
IMHO These missiles kick butt! Keep up the great work!
BTW If you need some reference to AA stuff then maybe we should also try for a more deadly and blinding BackWash for the AT4/SRAW, and the Stinger, as well as SA-7.
IE they sure look good model wise but the effect for them is no where near the real life look. I'll find a video as this falls in line with the missile work your doing now.
PS: Thanks for noting the Tank videos!

There is, its just not very noticeable.
@Gunwing: Hold on! I only started yesterday. EAs/PRs devs made the effects, I only edited them.

Sounds good apart from that dust animations generally are the most effective way to lower fps

It looks really good, I like it. But I think AAV's backblast smoke disappears too fast, it doesn't just dissapear irl, it slowly disperses and settles. Everything else is just great, good work.

Umm, I don't think so. You see, it's not really because of smoke/dust effects, it's more because of ultra high AA and AF. It's a very common myth imo, smoke don't lag ppl, 8xAA/16xAF lag ppl.

I have AA off, and yes smoke does lag me up.

It's a bit offtopic, but what about AF, and what cpu/gfx do you have? Yes I know that people are getting lag problems with smoke, but it's either because you have a really poor gfx card, or your gfx isn't configured properly. I know it because I have 8600gts on my other PC, and it lags like hell if you zoom-in on smoke, but if I tweak the driver setting properly it won't lag anymore.
So please, effects don't lag that much. If you have a poor pc then just set effects to medium/low and the problem is solved.

If I am in the middle of a couple of smoke grenades I lag alot and JDAMs if close are quite bad. However, while this effect lowers my FPS it doesn't enough to be a problem. Its less than being in a smoke grenade. But it would need testing on various computers.

When i tried this with alex my fps went from 95 too 38 witch isn't really a problem for me. But yes it would require testing on more pcs.

I just made a test on kashan, I popped 8 smoke grenades right under my feet, and I still had stable 22fps with my old 7600gt (max settings, no AA). If I step outside the smoke I'll get at least 30fps. If your video card is worse then mine then you need an upgrade, if it's not then why the hell are you lagging?

Maybe vista... But I will test again to se how much I lag with smoke grenades.

Thats odd. I was on XP 32 bit and ran 4 times AA and my FPS dropped to about 15 if I was inside a JDAM, but on Vista I only get about as low as 40.
My old specs:
Gforce 7950GTX 512MB
2GB of RAM
AMD Athlon dual Core CPU
Windows XP 32 bit
Performance: 15 FPS in JDAM, only 40FPS with Smoke Nades, normal without vehicles on screen: about 60 FPS, with about 30FPS.
My new specs:
Gforce 8800GTS 512MB
4GB of RAM
Intel Quad Core CPU
Windows Vista 64 bit
Performance: 40 FPS in JDAM, 60FPS with Smoke Nades, normal without vehicles on screen 134 FPS, with 124 FPS.
This tells me that if you have FPS problems on Vista 32/64 bit you need to download a little tool called HD Scruber: IE when you buy a new PC branded pice of hardware it often comes packed with loads of **** you don't ever need or wan't on your PC, DRM junk, stupid old drivers, bad software that slows your PC down. BTW Most of it can't be removed with the Vista uninstal control panel functions as it can't see it in the first palce.
This handy tool I speak of can fit on a flopy drive: It's only about 15MBs, and can clean any PC of unwanted **** that just makes your machine run slow.
My dad has a copy he uses for work and every time they instal a new Master Server, or a PC he runs this and it gets rid of the **** that many stores plant on your hard drive that slows your PC down to almost a crawl.

Mmm, well if you can cope with smoke grenades nicely you can cope with this. Although fraps lowers my FPS a bit, maybe I will make a video in 1 person. The dust comes up a little around the chopper, so you are in the middle not in the dust.

You will also need some different effects for landing on grass as well. I know that BF2 can and dose shack up things like the camo bunker texture so maybe we can get this to happen on grass as well. But it might take some major codeing.
Another thing is there would be less but still should be some dirt, or grass thats ripped up by a chopper if it lands on it.
We will also need some better watter effects as well, but thats only if we can get this stuff working well for lower end PCs. That or make it so only the high end settings in BF2 will make these effects show up for the player, but then we would have some major glitcher problems where the higher end PC users can't see, but the lower end can.
It's quite the pickle thats for sure Hmmmmmmmmm...............
