A little bit of me just died inside.

Just checked the royal navy site and this is what I found:

Attack Helicopters : Fleet Air Arm : Operations and Support : Royal Navy

What weapons does it have then Brummy?

EDIT

Just found this as well:
"Question: What types of helicopter are there? What are their roles?

Answer: The primary roles are:

Merlin - Anti Submarine Warfare
Sea King - Troop Carrying, Airborne Surveillance and Area Control, SAR
Lynx - Anti Surface and Anti Submarine Warfare.

However, helicopters are versatile and flexible platforms and each helicopter is not restricted to the roles above and can carry out any number of subsidiary roles."

Please help a thoroughly confused Morgan.

You're confused?

I'm just gonna sit out on all the talk about which whirly birds to use in game, apart from the fact that I wanna see Ice Killers awesome Chinook on her flight deck.

Yeah, i'm almost tempted to PM Brummy if he doesn't get on the job... :p

Chinook...? based on Ocean...? It doesn't feel right... They can fly off it I know but it's not carried by it. Ah well.

It's the FAA not the AAC that fly off Ocean, call yourself a future pilot... :p

Yeah, but only on the carriers Ark Royal, Illustrious and Invincible. I don't see the point of putting aircraft/vehicles on the ship that wouldn't be operating from them in reality.

Yeah, true morgan but a boy can dream... :goodvibes

HMS Ocean has landing and fueling facilities for Chinooks but I'm not sure as to what kind of situations that would be needed in. I've seen lots of ref' pic's with Chinooks on sites but they explain that she doesn't carry them and why.

...I guess it would only be for refueling or for emergencies. I see there is no real feasable reason for deploying them (from ocean).... :(

-------

I've found a better source of info on stats and dimensions etc...

I've managed to Import my 3D mesh into 3Ds max 2009 but the user interface had me stumped from the start. I'm mainly learning to uv map and such so I can get something going on in the BF2 editor... once I've learned to use that too... :p

I may post an update tonight on the model but I'm struggling with 3Ds max.

My priority at the moment is learning to UV map, texture etc...

This project is far from dead but far from being complete too.

I've been contacted by a chap working on a SP mod for COD4 [thanx again Techno], he has a contact who has supplied us with more high res pix of HMS Ocean and is looking into floor plans, deck layout etc... :)
