If anyone is having any PB B errors or problems.

Try using this before you start PR:
Download Battlefield 2 Cleaner 2.0 - Battlefield 2 fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle Coalition. - Softpedia

Just delete all the shader shit, and your good until you leave the server.

Then restart PR again and remove shaders, and repeat.

Whats the point in repeatably dumping your shaders cache and how its linked to PnkBstrB.exe?

Most people that have problem with B is either their connection, firewall blocking it or not really manually assigned clearance trough it, or multicore processing and issues with affinity and priority of processes...

I'm not saying this is useless but you might explain why I might get your point

Okay, need some help with Punkbuster.. Not sure what the problem is.. I've done a few steps but with no results.. I dont get an error message i just join a game.. and ill be playing for like 2 mins max, and all of a sudden i get kicked and it takes awhile to "update my stats" then it tells me "lost connection to EA server". I've reinstalled Pb, updated it and to no avail.. Now i have readded pba and pbb to my firewall.. did the permissions to restart the app for both A and B. But i noticed that for some reason B will not run... it does sometimes.. but other times it does not.. Not really sure how to proceed any help would be appreciated... Really hope this problem does not stop me from playing bf 3. :(

OK, first off I am new to this problem.

Many BF2 hacks corrupt/alter this file, if you have installed any, it's a probable cause. You wil need to uninstall PR, BF2 and reinstall.

If you haven't installed any hacks,
In the past PR Devs has suggested this:
1. manually update Punkbuster.
1. make sure bf2 and pr are completely shutdown.
2. find the dbghelp.dll on your PC ( C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 ) and cut and copy move it (to desktop or somewhere temporary).
3. download dbghelp.dll at dbghelp.dll free download - DLL-files.com to the directory where it should be located.

However, I found this in the archives... so we'll have to see if this is affecting you after you do the above steps:
ben748 wrote:Ever since i updated pb earyler this week to Version 2.212 , i get a md5 kick on the old dbghelp.dll error, but the problem is , the old fixes do not work because PR.exe copies a fresh .dll each time, does anyone know of any current fix for this issue, it really has made me angry today.

The hash on my dbghelp.dll is

Code: Select all

6479a184873f7ca797ff0375d711e9a6
Note, it just started kicking me the last few days, never has done this before. The kicks happen on TG, have not tried other servers.

i find the dbghelp and delete it,and download the new dll from the web site you give,im gonna try now and see what gonna happen....im gonna edit my post later, and tell you if there any change.
SOLVED....this is strange but my problem was mumble 1.0, i watch all unninstall in mumble i and saw the dbghelp.dll disaappear, in uninstaling(directory on mumble folders and files was in D:\Games\Battlefield2 ) same direction as game, after uninstall mumble dbghelp.dll was automaticly removed, instaled mumble in other directory than game and problem was solved, played 3 hours without problem, thats my solution for md5tool mismatch: dbghelp.dll (len=2048 )
so if any have instaled mumble in battlefield2 directory uninstall the mumble from there and set it in other direction.

You will also get this message if you try to leave the Anders soundmod on while playing on an unsupported server. Got kicked repeatedly after about 7 or 8min on multiple servers, reinstalled Punkbuster, still happened. Turned off mod, worked fine. Just FYI if anybody else has the same prob.

Since the Update of PB for BF2 on May 17th 2012 pnkbstrb.exe initialization fails.
If I start a map-->Server conncetion fail
If I start map again, map loads, but pnkbstrb.exe initialization fails -->kicks within seconds or minutes
for reason: pnkbstrb.exe initialization fails.

i tried everything I found related to these kind of problems (reinstall of games, of pb only, deleting and reinstalling PB..., cleaning all PB related files manually updating changing settings of the PB-B client etc.) all fails...now I see more and more people appear in forums with the same problems... please help us! its endlessly timeconsuming and no light at the end of the tunnel....

(btw BF:V is running its pnkbstrb.exe perfectly well)

Found the solution now:

After ours of investigation I found a possible solution for some players.

Microsoft OS has became in April 2012 new certifications in its update. watch here.

maybe punkbuster try to certificate punkbuster K/B with them.

Look into your punkbuster systemlogfile shown in.

I have no means of burning the memtest to a disc, and there is no .exe file to speak of if i run it off a virtual drive. How do i run this program?

edit: durr i was running the soundmod. ill check if that was the problem

edit2: it was the soundmod

Apparently this has to do with Punkbuster's latest update. I think Massive had a solution that kind of works so I'm sure he'll help you out when/if he reads this.

i get kicked about a minute ingame and it says punkbuster kicked me from having disallowed program/driver [128042]. I did close all other applications but all essentials (via hd audio, avast! antivirus) i tried google this and many players have the same issue.

I just updated from Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate to Windows 8 64-bit Pro and since that this problem has occured.
I tried playing Battlefield 3 and punkbuster didnt kick me there.
I submitted a ticket to Even Balance Tech support.

Rolled back to Windows 7 and works like a charm, dont use Windows 8 until it has pb support!
