What I suspect happened was that the server crashed whilst you were loading the map, it recovered before you completed loading and you were seemlessly loading in unaware that every bugger else had been disconnected and manually forced to reconnect.
rofl
Once I thought it didn't and then it did lol.
Not to hijack this, but how does the RKO anti tank grenade work..? It doesnt seem to damage vehicles that much
Traditionally tank grenades do f*** all to tanks, maybe to convertible saloons but not to tanks.
I definitely think something like this or something to a similar affect would help to encourage teamwork.Outlawz wrote: One thing that could be implemented is giving the Insurgent SLs the ability to deploy squad Rally Points.
However, the RPs can only be deployed in a 50-150m radius of a cache, so if an Insurgent squad chooses to defend a cache, they get a bonus of having their own spawn to help them out.
fuzzhead;789301']Insurgents faction has been changed, its now a much more teamwork based faction.
Were not going back to a situation where the mapper is holding the Insurgents hands, giving them everything they need. Insurgents will now have to plan and think, and if they act like smacktards, expect a brutally fast round.
I think the changes are for the better but maybe more can be done to help focus the Insurgent team, for example the stated team goals for Korengal Valley seem to offer more to the US team. Given the general nature of FPS games I think PR asks the gamer to do somethings which are counter-intuitive (which I think is good and part of the reason I play the game), but I think sometimes this can lead to an unenjoyable experience for many which for example can lead to the kind of game play that was common in Al Basrah; lack of squad co-opereation, lack of team work and co-ordination, lack of focus etc. I think more can be done to address this but as I said I think the changes are for the better and that PR is heading in the right direction.
I like the inclusion of the mortars, I think it would be sweet though if the insurgents could have player operated ones.

And to that post "you should never get into game expecting to win as insurgent"; this kind of weird and far away form being "realistic". Looking back maybe the past 60 years, no regular army was able to win a war against "insurgents". Not the Russians in Afghanistan, not the Russians in Chechenya, not the US in the Afghanistan, not US in Vietnam, Not the French in Vietnam, not the US in Korea, not the French in Algeria, not the US in Iraq nowadays, this list is kind of endless. The only conflict I can think of that could have maybe count as a kind of a win (as the french were able to cut down the resistance at one point ot quite zero by really brutal force), is the conflict between Algeria and France, but here as well the french had to retreat in the end. So looking into it your way, you should not expect a win as the "regular" army (which is by itself only an expression made by the point of view) fighting insurgents.
Good point, worth a quotation (lol).
Also a good point worth quoting but fighting street to street in Fallujah isn't like going round AL Basrah searching for caches. I'd say that you suggested below is more like Fallujah.[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto wrote:...winning a battle and winning a war are two entirely different things, hence the popular phrase, you may have won the battle, but NOT the war....
Fallujah, terrible fighting, but you just push through. Only a matter of time really. Thats not to minimize the damage/suffering, but yeah...
Me and Ghost are working on something a bit like this for our map Darunta Dam, Rhino suggested it. Although not finalized it's not gonna be exactly what you envisaged but it's along those lines.[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto wrote:Id like to see a city map where its like Sunset city with large capture areas, US against the insurgents. That way the insurgents dont have to run around and be watching one specific cache, instead they are fighting for control over the city/heckling the enemy as it moves in. I think that'd be a lot of fun... AAS one flag at a time, large radius, progressing through the city. Then finally, the INS have one place to be and its all over... itd just be fun and intense... not about winning or losing...
Id love it if you HAD caches but they werent the be all end all of a round. BluFor can hunt them down and blow them, but that just means less RPG/PKM for the INS. You could up the amount of weapons on caches slightly to make them more important, and once you lose them... the rounds pretty much over.
Yeah, Id like thatId rather have large parts of a city to keep INS occupied than running cache to cach defending them. And thats not to bash the current INS gamemode, I really do enjoy it
I just love the idea of INS fighting to actually control flags with a large radius
possible second INS mode.
Errr I think that's enough...
