realism question - is the gunner protection kit the same as the one mounted on humvees and other US vehicles? (there is an uparmoured humvee made by R-DEV cheeseman that has it iirc, so you might want to keep it coordinated)

Isn't there an M240 for the huey's bumping around someplace? that could save you work as well?

and also a CROWS? edit, Chuc has said that part already :D

Well thanks everyone ill try to work on it best i can.

Answer for the M240 and protection kit and other questions about it. In my mind to properly balance this would have to go like this. It would be a 4 manned tank, Driver, gunner, loader and Commander. To really balance this u would have to make it so that the Driver gunner and Commander all need CREWMAN kits to operate the tank and the loaders 240 would act as the 50 cals postion now which means no CREWMAN kit. The Driver still sees out of his Periscope and the Gunner his Periscope type device. The commander would be in control of the CROWS which needs a CREWMAN kit. This would mean a lot more teamwork since the crows is going to be very effective if used right.

Well thats about it from me for now

One question, why would the loader be outside on the manning an MG when he's down below reloading the main cannon?

Basically, because in real life during urban conflicts and engagements he would use the M240 on his hatch. While the gunner uses the coxial m240 inside and it gave the tank an extra boost in Urban situations. Other MBTs are now using this including the Leopard, which gives its loader a MG3.

Why don't you just make one gun controlled by the driver (it is in the same position as the normal driver camera) and have the other been the loader or what ever they are on the other PR/BF2 tanks? So that you wont waste more ppl on one tank, the tank would still just need 3 men to operate like all the other tanks.

Or was this the plan?

You missed my point. If he's outside on his MG, who's down below reloading the main cannon? It wouldn't make sense in-game to have the loader on the MG and the M1A2 automatically reloading after each shot. It'd make sense if the M1A2 is using an autoloader, but AFAIK, they aren't.

Sorry to put you on the spot, but we had a similar discussion on a thread in the testers forum, way back when. We reached one alternative, but wanted to hear what you would do.

No no its becuz its the TUSK upgrade(Tank Urban Surival Kit) due to the Aftermath of the War in IRAQ, US needed to find a job for him and since usually there is M240 there they added a Sheild to make it more protective so that when he needed to use it, he wasnt going to be blow to bits. You see its on his hatch so he would be able to drop down through a round in the Breach and jump back to lay cover fire but since you cant do something like that in PR u could just give him the ability to use the 240. I think it should be 4 crew members because it would give them more options and would require more teamwork. Just so everyone knows the M240 only has a 130 degree sight range so u cant do 360 like u can with the CROWS or normal M2HB 50 so it helps to balance it all. Personally I have been working out ideas how to balance the extra gun, plus the Armor and the CROWS and its advantages which ill go into more later on.

Wildstar, ingame the setup would be :

Position 1 - Commander/Driver : In PR we combine these roles into one seat for combat effectiveness and to preserve player limitations. In your TUSK variant the commander would be able to switch to the CROWS system by "selecting" it (e.g no.1 = commander periscope view, no.2 = CROWS optical view)

Position 2 - Gunner : Controls main turret

Position 3 - Loader/M240 : We cannot simulate the loader properly but there will be other things we can do and still allow a third position that mans the M240 :)

Alright that works i was just saying wat i thought the format could be but its up to u guys im just modeling it.

Actually that really works because it still requires the CROWS to need a CREWMAN kit so that works.
Now i just have to finish it.
