lolz...could you make that statement a bit more depressing? I'm not sure I got the point.

I'm running 3.0Ghz Intel 8400 Duo, two 8800GT 512mb each SLI, P-5N Motherboard and 3 GB of high performance Reaper RAM (stupid XP only allowing one to run 4 GB of DDR overall) and everything runs fine but the occasional freeze crah issue I have been having.

This is a VERY interesting point. You see at one point or another as I've noted before -- SOMEONE pays. Since, we are all not paying for the team, we end up paying for new computers. I rest my case :) .

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64, 6000+ AMD x2, 4GB of dual channel ddr800 corsair ram, with 2 dinky sata150 drives running raid 0, Nvidia 512mb 9800gt, with a gigabyte ma78gm-s2h board that has been very good to me :)

I couldn't run the older version smoothly on a all high textures cause I didn't have enough ram with 2gb, had to upgrade. Probably because of vista. Haven't tried the new version but I'm looking forward to it and I'm not too worried about the requirements

Also is it somehow possible to make the game dual core compatible or offloading a bit of the processing to a second core to improve some performance or would that require drastic amounts of code?

I guess we gotta hope for EA to be smart enough to make bf2 compatible with new hardware and software with the patch 1.5 such as vista 64, multiple core processor and 4 go ram.

Actually, you can make BF2 work with 4gb of ram :p go to the Help&Hardware forum and check AncientMan's sticky, then try the last tip. It has worked wonders for me.

hehheh...i cleaned my case yesterday and removed one of my RAM sticks to check which brand they were.
After I put it back in, I went to work and when I came back I wanted to play a nice game of PR. But when I was loading Operation Archer I heard the loading music start about 6 times before it got to 100% (a full 25 minutes I think). And when I finally loaded, an instant CTD.

Turned out that I misplaced my 2nd 512MB stick. So I put it in correctly, and all of a sudden...i smelled something burning.

DUST in the between the connectors >_<. Anyway, it's fixed now..

---

On a sidenote, I've put my effects on LOW and seemed to help alot with the "supression lag" i got.

It can work, but it won't do so automatically. Check the FAQ AncientMan posted in Help&Hardware (one of the stickies) or the announcement I made about it, you have to switch your BF2.exe, which only takes a second.

No problem here, I had AAx16 on by accident forced in Nvidia control panel... which caused me some grief ( 5fps only when looking at grass through scope?! ) But otherwise was getting 40fps on high/medium lighting effects

Have I lowered my settings for this release.... nope, have I noticed I drop down to 30fps sometimes, yeah but thats normal for me ( 8800 GTS 640mb )

Fallujah West runs just fine for me, and its awesome :D

Edit: **** I forgot about the 2mb switch thing on the EXE since the last time I reinstalled BF2 DOH!

Aye that's a good idea, got some RAM and a processor goin goin spare on an old motherboard of mine that blew.

I can see why people get a bit annoyed about this, but unfortunately if PRs gonna get better it's gonna push peoples PCs a bit, I've got an old 586 in my loft and I'm not gonna start telling the the DEVs they need to have another look at their mod cos it won't run on it (wonder how fast everything would melt if I even managed to begin to get win XP on it never mind the BF2 .exe to start).

The DEVs are being VERY reasonable though, I'm quite lucky to have a reasonable rig, although my graphics card is getting hella old now, it's not like PR is bloody FarCry 2 or Empires Total war or something like that.

Had some lag, added more ram, no longer have lag.
We're talking 4GB DDR2 800Mhz up from 2GB, not exactly low quality RAM here
(Saying that, it's only about £20 for cas4 stuff these days).
Karbala + Vista > 2GB RAM, although I found tightening my timings and overclocking reduced the lag too - but was rather unstable what with BF2 being BF2.

RAM seems to be the most useful thing, PR runs smooth as anything on full settings and full resolution with a couple of things on medium, and I have a Radeon X850, all due to me having 4gigs of RAM. Since I have XP I'm only using just over 3 too cos it won't recognise any more, Although if you have Vista it seems to take up a gig of memory just to sit around idle anyway...

4 gig for £50 here, not cheap cheap, but it's 800Mhz and a highly reputable RAM, not let me down yet; http://www.cclonline.com/product-listin ... rer_id=102 I've got pretty much the same but in 4 sticks, this is pretty much the same price for 2.

I'd go for that. I got a gfx card I wouldn't mind offloading.

There already is a hardware/software discussion forum, feel free to make a thread there, though it would of course be at your own risk etc.

I'm running a 2.4ghz dual cpu, ati 3850xt and 4 gb ram and it runs very well, however it crashes every time it changes maps. I have tried all the fixes but nothing has worked so far. The only fix i'm not sure i have done right is the increasing the paging.

Can anyone help me with this, i posted in the hardware help forum but no one replied :( . lol

Cheers

My 0.85 runs a hell of a lot smoother than 8 to be honest.

In all fairness when I first downloaded it said with 0.7 that the hardware requirements werent upped.

Ive gone from playing battlefield 2 on full settings at 60fps to playing PR on medium at about 40 or 50.

So there is quite a big hike.

Not sure my temperatures under load. The only problem I have really is getting KTD because of Vista, but I did the fix in the Help and Hardware section to increase Ram usage since I have 4 gigs and it has helped for the most part, though it freezes during map loading every so often. The game loads much faster now though.
